Firefox logo at University of Cuba

Hello,

Here in our country there is a university called ICU (University of Computer Science), in it there is a group of students who are big fans of Firefox, these guys are Firefoxmania : )

Unfortunately their website is only available for the university network, that's why I want to share what they do here 😉

Basically, they are making a logo of Firefox In an area of the university grounds, I leave some photos here:

 What is it cool? 😀

This is the first stage finished with really visible results, that is… first of making the logo as such, since they had already done the part of «logistics», planning, etc. I leave you some images of how that terrain was when starting this project:

Wouldn't it be great if initiatives like these also took place in other universities in other countries? 🙂

regards (I.e.

@littlebiggie: Precisely that is the guiding idea for the creation of the logo, after setting the form to plant a plant that can identify it, and I attest to the lack of tools and other setbacks, but hey we had plenty of enthusiasm and desire ... we still need one stage ... any suggestion or help is always welcome you can contact us this is my email rcorrales@estudiantes.uci.cu

Starting the lawn I don't think is ideal to do something like that ... but hey, it looks good, it can be interesting when they finish it.
The good thing would be to take advantage of the discovered land and make a floral garden with the colors of firefox, it would already be the ultra-pro version. xD

    1.    KZKG ^ Gaara said

HAHAHA yes, the problem is that they do not have the resources for the flowers, or more pro tools to do a better job 🙁 ... although it seems incredible, the tools do not have them 🙁

Thanks for stopping by, welcome to the site 🙂

If I'm honest, no, seriously NO. These kinds of things are tremendously similar actions of cults, contactees and others.

Not to say that the "worship" of logos is a matter of deranged and with forgiveness to those who are doing it (and those who have done it).
They will say anything about the Apple fans, but neither they nor they do this and I'm sure some Macfan make a bitten apple in a field, garden, mural, etc. and the laughter and ridicule of their mental health would last a week.

    1.    rob3r said

@Ares: It seems that you did not understand .. I'll explain

If belonging to a community that develops and promotes free technologies, internet law, which is constantly fighting for your rights as a user and your freedom, among many other reasons, you call that a sect or contacted because for me it is fine until there There is a problem, because we belong to one of the largest and most collaborative sects in the world and it is the Mozilla community.
On the other hand, the idea of this creation is not at all out of adoration of the colors of the fox, nor pk mozilla gives us or encourages us to create it and thus we will obtain benefits, the guiding idea and is being fulfilled is to disseminate the objectives in our country of the mozilla foundation and its firefox browser, let it be known that there are people who work to make the internet better every day ... I also believe that the goals of apple fans are not even close to ours, and do what they do for a Technological preference would be an immense pettiness of those who brand them that way ... I propose that you reread the article and write any questions ....
PS: I have participated in the creation of the logo since its beginning ...

If I'm afraid I have understood correctly.

I have been tempted to say some things as they are, especially because your entire comment (I take it unconsciously) is based on totally emotional "arguments"; but I chose better to be more generic and avoid hurting susceptibilities.

Sorry to say it, but what you do is called gross emotional manipulation.

It's like some ineffable people who say «If we fight for the freedoms and rights of our children, men and women, for the freedom and security of our nation and way of life, to preserve our advanced and civilized Western model, for the freedom and democracy of oppressed peoples who are being massacred by their ruling tyrants and for achieving a world without the threat of terrorism, if doing all that is being a genocidal and warmongering invader, then yes, we are proudly genocidal and warmongering invaders who achieve our freedom and democracy, yours and that of all peoples ».

On the other hand, I have not said what you indicate, belonging to a community that does "good and noble things" (which by the way fits any religion / sect especially when it is seen by a member of it) is not what you I called sect or contacted, I called do thing of sects and contactees to what they do / did that is certainly a matter of sects and contactees.

On the other hand, the idea of this creation is not at all out of adoration of the colors of the fox, ..., the guiding idea and it is being fulfilled is to disseminate in our country the objectives of the mozilla foundation and its firefox browser, which is known that there are people who work to make the internet better every day and that using firefox they will be free on the web, that there is a community where our opinion counts

Look, if I write with flowers in the grass of a garden "I LOVE YOU ELENA" it is because I am crazy about her and I adore her, there is no more.

If I want to disclose the rights of network users, the dangers that threaten such technology by restricting and controlling it, the ways to fight and achieve certain objectives, I do something more coherent and sane people like choosing to explain and spread those ideas , not tattooing a giant logo on the ground and dancing around it.

That is what I (and anyone who is not biased) call doing cult things, objectively speaking there is no way to refute it or to argue that this is the (necessary and effective) way to "promote some ideas."

I also believe that the goals of apple fans are nowhere near ours, and whatever they do out of a technological preference would be an immense pettiness of anyone who calls them that way.

As someone says, my motivations are good, theirs different from mine then no.
My motivations are good therefore my actions are sane; their motivations are bad, selfish, satraps, etc. so their actions, although equal to mine, are crazy. And speaking of sectarian thinking.

The "difference" between a sect and a religion is that both do rites, both pray things, both fervently believe that their subjective truth is the universal truth and the best for all, but religion is religion "because they follow my idea, contrary to the sects that follow and worship false things.

A crazy apple fan who does the same thing as you will think you do it because it makes sense and because Apple deserves it, while you would be crazy lifeless geeks who do pathetic things for pathetic things. Come on, the same but from your sidewalk if you have not understood.

I propose that you reread yourself, either seeking to abstract yourself as the protagonist of the story or in a few years and you will see that people who do that are really very strange.

PS: I have participated in the creation of the logo since its beginning ...

Bravo. Greetings to the crazy GPS when you see it XD.

        1.    KZKG ^ Gaara said

          I think he's overthinking things.
In other words, the logo was made as a source of pride… we (I say us even though I did not participate in making the logo) are proud to use Firefox, that's why we promote it that way. Comparing being proud of using Firefox with being an irrational fanatic, or comparing being proud of this with being proud of using something proprietary (Mac) is very different, it has nothing to do one thing with another 😉

        2.    rob3r said

This can be a longaaa controversy so for me it is fine ... you have your views on the actions that are undertaken and we have another ... the only thing I agree with you is the part where you say that each fan defends their own and criticize others .. for the other possible arguments for me are not consistent either, the ones you give are simply based on personal criteria .. and I repeat to just try to give you my point of view and that's it… thanks for the comment….

        3.    Ares said

          @Gaara

I hope the day you see comes and you will agree with me.

When was the last time you were proud to wear something? Have you been proud to wear the pants you wear? Have you promoted it by painting your brand on the ground?

Feeling pride in something banal (like wearing something) is being a fan, it is having a void in your soul that was filled with the first thing you could, but since you have a very negative connotation about being a fan, you don't want to recognize that qualification in yourself / You.

In fact, they do not want to recognize it and that is why they justify themselves "it is that our cause is noble" "we really want to represent something else" (although the final is admitted that it is for the glory of the former).

Being proud to use Firefox (*) is the same as being proud to use something Private (Mac). They are different from your sidewalk, for the Maquero it would also be different because it would be "feeling proud to use something of quality versus being proud to use something of freaks". We return to sectarian thinking.

(*) That by the way, Firefox is not really Free, so it is not a good dichotomy.

          @ Rob3r

For the other possible arguments for me, the ones you give are simply based on personal criteria.

For me yours have not had it, but the difference is that I have been able to explain and support the reason for their inconsistencies and I did not remain in devaluing the comments.

In fact I reserved arguments so as not to sound loud or stun with a lot of text.

          1.    KZKG ^ Gaara said

The last time? …well, I'm proud of DesdeLinux, I am proud to use GNU/Linux, is there anything bad or negative about it?
And no, I have not painted your logo on the ground, because I have not had the opportunity. Am I a hopeless fanatic and lacking in logic and objectivity for it? nah, I don't think so 🙂

I think the whole problem here lies in the definition / meaning that everyone has of "proud", as well as of "fanatic" 😀

    2.    elav <° Linux said

Apple doesn't need to do anything, that's what its fanboys are for. Don't you remember the man who started running like crazy and drew the Apple logo with his GPS?

I think that we are heading towards a dead end, so I propose to leave the subject as it is, each with his opinion and our proud fanaticism adorations, as someone said excuse my ignorance for not knowing who said the phrase
IN THIS WORLD OF CHIMERAS EVERYONE EATS THE WED…. IN THEIR OWN WAY
.. greetings and sorry the admin was not intended to create this contradiction .... greetings.

@Ares Do you know something? I had never thought about those things you say, they did not cross my healthy mind. But if you have not understood the criteria of the others, here is one for you, which cannot be refuted: We were willing to do it!

And if we want to plant food, we plant food for it.

  13.   KZKG ^ Gaara said

    Ok let's take a little calm 🙂
We're getting to make this a bit personal, do you want freedom? Do they defend freedom? , then they have to defend the freedom of each one to give their opinion, even more to respect it 😉

Not everyone has to agree with the same, in fact if it were like that it would all be very boring, but as someone said: «I do not agree with what you say, but I would die defending your right to say it» ^ _ ^

    regards

Not everyone has to agree with the same thing, in fact if it were like that it would be all very boring

Well no, if everyone agreed with me this world would be a better place

      1.    KZKG ^ Gaara said

It would lack debates, productive opinions, etc. 🙂
Remember that when things are rethought, when you do not agree with something or someone, it is that you think about changing ... now, that the change is for better or for worse, it is something else 😀
