10 Minutes with DesdeLinux is a project that aims to bring new users closer to GNU / Linux in a more enjoyable way and it is already taking shape, so I will let you know what we have done.
Website Mockup
We want to launch a site for this new project, but I still can't define what technology to use. I always thought of WordPress, but maybe if we use this CMS we do not take advantage of all its benefits.
We could use another CMS, simpler or do something FromScratch, although this last option of course goes to the end of the queue.
The site we want to implement is not complicated at all, it will only serve to link the latest videos uploaded to our channel at YouTube. I show you more or less an idea that I have:
If you have something in mind to help with, you can upload something to GitHub and so we can all collaborate.
The most important thing about the site, be it a CMS or any other, is that it should be possible to generate content easily, that is, linking a video or uploading an image should not be cumbersome.
Doubts, Suggestions, Ideas
Any idea you have, suggestion or doubt, can be transmitted through our official account at Twitter: @10inDesdeLinux or, through a space created specifically for it in our Forum.
In the Introduction video that I almost have ready, I will give some details about the project and clarify some doubts that some users have had regarding this project. 😉
I already want to see that video of setting up a server with apache, PHP5 and MariaDB
: )
That is in charge of KZKG ^ Gaara 😀
Nah, a server with Nginx + php5 + MariaDB
How good this project looks ... every day more happy to have discovered this blog.
Keep it up.
Thanks
Brilliant!
I think that something simple is enough, you don't need much.
To do a bit of everything automatically, you could use the YouTube API to obtain the list of videos.
Yes, I was thinking about that, especially to show the photo of the video in question, but I have to immerse myself in these issues.
The point is in How are the videos managed on the site? In other words, how are they getting?
I can take care of the API more or less. I'm going to see if the API allows the upload of videos.
The only thing that I work with what I know about PHP, I'll see if I can do something simple as an example
YouTube has a data API that allows you to upload the videos, with this you could generate a website where there are users and all of them can upload these videos to the channel, and thus manage this new initiative as if it were a blog, in itself it is a Video Blog.
They already have my help on these issues.
regards
I don't know if it's off // But you could see a wiki, like dokuwiki (choosing the url format well), if the objective is to generate knowledge, it would be more dynamic, users can modify them freely, and there is always the undo, having the change history (diff) and probably not using tons of cpu.
You could do something custom with Symfony or Ruby On Rails, if you need help with this I am a web developer and I could cooperate with the community 🙂
As I said in the post, you can upload any idea to GitHub or another place where we can all see what you are doing and collaborate .. Thanks for wanting to help.
I can do something today with RoR 🙂
the design will you have it complete? my email is abimex [at] gmail.co
gmail.com *
It would be great…
Ditto… I'm migrating from Sf2 to Ror, whatever I can cooperate with I'm here to help!
Excellent, I am looking forward to seeing those videos.
Good luck with everything and good luck!
haha I would like but I have the µkernel page behind me and I have not been able to advance in anything -.-
It looks great, according to the page. How do you make videos have HTML5 compatibility?
I think it's a good idea! Just be careful with the quality of the videos, the diction of who makes them, etc. In short, that the videos reflect the quality of this blog!
Well, it is something very difficult because we are not journalists or TV presenters, but we will see what happens 😉
Thanks bro
It seems that they are setting up DesdelinuxLandia xD, we have desdelinux, which would be the Library/the paper newspaper xD, the forum, which acts as a Hospital (when you broke the entire system xD and you need help xD) and also as a cyber cafe, the bar, where drunks gather (?) hahahaha to chat about Linux (the microkernel xD) and now what would become the… Cinema?, video library?, informative flash? xD hahaha
Hahahaha
Yeah yeah
More locals, since not all of us can go to Havana and chat directly with @elav or @gaara.
Sometimes you seem gross xD µkernel is not directly a project DesdeLinux, it is a project made up of active members which is something else, and the fact that I have been on the team for years, well, it only strengthens the bond but specifically, not ex µkernel.desdelinux.net XD
Although I have to talk to the bald man
I'm not stupid xD, I know they are independent projects, but maybe they can't coexist together DesdeLinuxLandia? xD hahaha, they also propagandize each other 😀
+1
The mockup I suggest you try to do it in Drupal (in Joomla it is quite heavy and WordPress does not let you edit its plugins or they are not quite advanced in terms of editing elements in HTML5)
Putting together a "videoblog" seems very complicated, especially because of the bandwidth and server costs.
However, it is possible to "trick" YouTube so that many users upload their videos to our channel, following the instructions in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d1Hv-ShTne8
The idea is basically to enable the possibility of uploading videos by sending them by email to an address (in which the Title of the email will be the Title of the video and the text will be its description). It's that simple. The only thing against this method is spam. There can always be some parsley that wants to send garbage, but we can also delete it as soon as someone notices it. Anyway ... I think this method combined with traditional blog posts can work better than a "videoblog".
As much as the idea excites me, we don't have the resources to do something like that… 🙁
Hug! Paul.
I agree with you ! have a server that can handle uploading videos ufff .. too expensive ..
I think it would be a good idea for the user to upload the YouTube link of the video through a form and then with PHP we extract the data from that video to show it on our page.
You can also make a rating or scoring system where the community itself can "reward" good videos ... and "punish" trash videos ...
To be honest I understand little of what they say (my knowledge about Web services is almost nil xD), but I am really excited that this project is completed, I think it will become a vice for me to watch these videos.
Greetings.
Hello, I come to comment that the Linux 3.11 Kernel has already been released:
https://www.kernel.org/
Greetings and good blog.
Just seeing that mockup makes me really want it to arrive 🙂
I'm doing this with ruby on rails, 😛
https://github.com/abimaelmartell/10m-desdelinux
I'm dying to see that video where desdelinux.net is giving me a new core i5 8gram laptop to install debian for being such a good follower of the blog...and I mean it
Great, I would like to participate (although I have no idea what I would talk about).
DesdeLinux getting bigger and bigger.
I need to improve my voice to hear myself as a whole male Linux consoler xD
