Glovebox: the Ubuntu Phone OS interface on Android

We would all love to try Ubuntu Phone OS on our devices, but of course, we still don't want to put Android aside.

That is why some XDA users thought a bit and got to work to develop an application that will allow us to taste a little of the Ubuntu Phone flavor without leaving Android.

This application gives us the necessary tools to enjoy the famous sidebar that can be seen in the image on the left above on any Android phone.

There are two versions. The paid version incorporates more features, such as the ability to put an unlimited limit of applications in the sidebar. But if we want to try the Ubuntu Phone experience, the free one works perfectly. Although we have to bear in mind that it is an initial version and contains some bugs. It is fully functional as of Android 1.6.

It is a really nice environment, with a really significant work in html5, and from what I have read in different places it is on a better path than Ubuntu Phone since it got or is getting more support from the telephone operators (not forgetting the fact that that Ubuntu is just starting the race). But equally, both have to face Android, iOS and the recently launched Windows Phone.

The truth is I always deny my phone because when they gave it to me it was "good" and it had a significant amount of applications, today nothing happens with it. But I don't think about changing my symbian since, it still serves what I use it for: Calling and sending text messages, although I will not be hypocritical, for applications like this, or others that I have seen on the net, or features of the OS , I would love to have an android.
On the other hand, in Ubuntu Phone I do not think why I do not see a future, that is, I think it arrived late in a saturated market where developers have their work focused on Android and iOS. But it is just my point of view, it is just starting the path of Ubuntu Phone.
    Greetings, Javier.
