Some months ago We celebrated the creation of a plugin that incorporated all the filters and effects of G'MIC into our well-loved GIMP. Since then .DEB packages have been available on the project's Source Forge page. The news of the day is that a PPA has just been created so that we can stay updated on all the changes that are being incorporated (very often, by the way). |
Note: G'MIC can be downloaded as a standalone tool as well as the GIMP plugin, although it is not necessary to install both for them to work.
Install the PPA
sudo add-apt-repository ppa: ferramroberto / gimp
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install gmic gimp-gmic
What if I have Arch?
Well, here's what to do, for those who say Arch is complicated:
pacman -S gimp-plugin-gmic
And after that…?
G'MIC is very easy to use. You just have to open an image, run G'MIC and apply the effect. From GIMP, just go to the menu Filters> G'MIC and a dialog box will open asking what effect you want to apply. Each effect, of course, has its "control panel" that allows you to make the relevant adjustments and, in addition, there is a small window that shows an example of how the image would look if the effect was applied.
For tutorials and / or help, you can visit the G'MIC group at Flickr.

Thanks Juancho! A hug!
Pablo.
Excellent plugin for GIMP ……… I discovered it a while ago and it really complements it very well… it is an excellent collection of effects… you can add watermarks with quick-copyright… .and others… if you like to play with your images I recommend it…
By the way, I didn't have the PPA installed… .I take advantage of it to do it …………………. That's it !!!….
I take this opportunity, like Juan Luis, to congratulate Pablo for the new blog design ...
Hugs
Maverick
