The GNOME Project has released the first beta of the next version of its graphical environment, GNOME 3.34, which is expected to arrive next month.
Released a day earlier than expected, GNOME 3.34 Beta (GNOME 3.33.90) is now available for public testing, also marking the development stage where the interface, API / ABI and features are frozen and no more are added. The GNOME 3.34 beta version comes with many updated components and applications.
"This is the first beta of GNOME 3.34. To ensure the quality of the final release, we have entered the stage where the UI, API and features freeze, so it is a good time for distributors planning to use GNOME 3.34 to start testing their packages.”Michael Catanzaro mentioned in an email.
GNOME 3.34 on September 11
The GNOME 3.34 development cycle will continue with the release of the second beta (GNOME 3.33.91) which is set to release on August 21. After that, the first RC will arrive on September 4.
The final release of GNOME 3.34 is expected on September 11, but it will hit the official repositories of major distributions in early October when GNOME 3.34.1, the first maintenance update, arrives.
