In accordance with restrictive measures imposed by the US Department of Commerce against Huawei, Google suspended business relations with Huawei in connection with the transfer of equipment, software and technical services, with the exception of publicly available projects under open licenses.

While for future Android-based Huawei device models, the release will be discontinued of application updates offered by Google (Google Apps) and the work of Google services will be limited.

The Google representatives confirmed the situation in which they were forced to follow the instructions of the US Department of Commerce.

However assured users that the restrictions would not affect devices already in use and that they could still use Google services, including Google Play, and download updates for applications distributed by Google.

All of this has been generated by problems for months, starting with wanting to block Huawei in several countries as well as accusations of including spyware and other things.

A few days ago (May 15), the US Department of Commerce added Huawei and all its divisions to the list of unscrupulous foreign companies.

US companies do not have the right to transfer technology to companies on this list without obtaining special permission from the US Bureau of Industry and Safety.

As a reason for the inclusion of Huawei in the blacklist Activities that are contrary to the interests of the national security or foreign policy of the United States are mentioned. Huawei is accused of violating the International Agreement on Emergency Economic Power (IEEPA), that is, failure to comply with Iran's sanctions and interfere in the investigation of alleged violations.

Huawei devices will no longer be able to use Google Play or receive updates to their applications

Huawei will be deprived of the Google Apps suite. In future device models while access to the Google Play application catalog for future devices is questionable.

On the one hand, the statement mentions not to block the ability to work with Google Play, but to restrict access to certain applications on Google Play.

En particular, we are talking about proprietary Google applications distributed through Google Playsuch as Google Play Protect, Drive, Docs, Gmail, YouTube, and Chrome, which can be excluded from the problem for new Huawei devices.

On the other hand, all this is subject to a commercial agreement with Google, it is among the services controlled by Google and is linked to a set of components owned by Android. No decision has yet been made on which specific services and applications will be blocked.

The restrictions will only affect Google services and applications that require a business agreement.

Applications provided under open licenses are not affected. Including Huawei, you can continue to use the Android platform on your devices, but it will be limited only by the AOSP base code (Open source project for Android) publicly available.

Huawei will be deprived of access to pre-experimental versions of Android behind closed doors, but will be able to use the Mainline updates developed as part of the Android 10 development cycle, which will allow rapid update of the platform's system components. without updating the entire platform.

Modules with similar updates will be distributed open source and immediately placed in the AOSP repositories.

Huawei representatives mentioned that they were ready to introduce such measures and they have developed their own technologies in recent years to replace Google services. Some of these technologies have already been successfully applied to devices manufactured for the Chinese market.

In China, most of Google's mobile applications are banned and alternative services are initially offered to users. The changes will also not affect the delivery of system updates for Android, as OTA updates are generated and delivered by Huawei.

... because the big affected will be Google, blocked by an absurd policy that only seeks to maintain in power an economy that is no longer number 1.
Thus we could see a clone of several Google services, supported by Huawei, which will first seek to position themselves in Asia, the world's largest market and if so, easily expand it to the rest of the world.
And so we could finally see the real YouTube competitor
