Half Life 3 exclusive for GNU / Linux platforms

I found out about this news in humans and my face still amazes me and it is that something is definitely changing. I leave the article as it is in the original note:

Gabe Newell, co-founder and director of Valve attended the LinuxCon Europe 2012, where he has stated that when he leaves Half Life 3 will be exclusive to Linux. He even stressed:

Exclusive means exclusive

I tell you could because it is still missing for that, and because I have not been able to find a sufficiently reliable source with the news, yes, it is everywhere.

His statements have been dispersed by the media like dynamite, the announcement made in a question and answer session:

Audience member: Well, um. What about 3 Half-Life?
[Audience laughs] Newell: It's funny you mention that. I would like to say at this point that the next Half-Life game will officially be exclusive on Linux platforms.
[Applause from the audience]

Newell: Many might say, Gabe, you are not a strong enough player base on Linux, you will lose money! Money does not matter to me. I care about the players. They deserve an experience like no other and I intend to give them the same. This release will spark a gaming revolution on Linux and provide a dynamic shift in the developer space that is desperately needed to save everyone from the nightmare that is Windows 8.

Audience member: What if there is no revolution?

Newell: There will be. It does not have to be. If I didn't have faith that Linux would take off as a gaming platform, I wouldn't be here. In fact, we had to restart development when I made the decision to switch to Linux. Half-Life 3 for Windows would be finished right now, if I didn't make that choice.

Audience member: What about iOS?

Newell: Exclusive means exclusive.

Audience member: So how about a release date?

Newell: Don't push.

He had previously made other statements in a recorded video chat, where he explained that Valve is looking for more open platforms where to deploy its business, in this case it criticized Apple's closed model and Microsoft, of the latter, has said that Windows 8 is a catastrophe.

“We want to make it as easy as possible for the 2,500 games on Steam to run on Linux as well. It's a hedging strategy. I think Windows 8 is a catastrophe for everyone in the PC space. I think we'll lose some of the top-tier PC / OEMs, who will exit the market. I think margins will be destroyed for a bunch of people. If that's true, then it will be good to have alternatives to hedge against that eventuality.

I advise you to read your full statements, where it makes clear Valve's position for the future.

Well friends, we will see how the Valve issue ends in Linux, we will see if the revolution that Gabe raises arrives, I feel optimistic, Valve has gone from words to actions, finally offering a version of Steam for Linux, we must give time to time see what happens.

Game4real is a Gamer humor page.

Crazy news is invented to make people laugh, it is pure comedy, everything in the interview is made up.

What is "known" for now is that if Half Life 3 arrives, it will have its corresponding native version for GNU / Linux, but nothing else, neither Gave has made any statement, nor was there an interview, nor anything at all, it was all a joke.

XDDD had already told me it was a joke .. But I am left with the idea that it is possible xDDD

That Half Life 3 comes native to GNU / Linux is more than possible.
Now, that they have it finished in the absence of carrying it and that it will be exclusive ……… XD

Too bad, I was already all excited. It's like telling a child that Santa doesn't exist and that the bogeyman won't take him if he misbehaves XD, but the simple fact that it's native to Linux, that's enough for me.

Very good news, but I see the exclusivity a bit shabby; That they take out a first version for linux and months later a version for windows that is what is most in my head. There is how much migration Valve would cause for Linux and well that you do not have to eat the coconut with the roll of licenses to use a Linux distro

I already resigned myself ... YEARS waiting for the HL3 and nothing 🙁
When it comes out (if it comes out at some point), whatever the platform, I'm going to play it YES or YES hahaha

Well I think they are on the way because the beta of steam in Ubuntu is already there. only a few were lucky enough to have access to the beta.

It's pure fake .. but .. deep down, I would like this joke to be taken seriously by Valve and make it come true 😛

It's really I have it, even if it doesn't have beta you can use it from here: http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2012/11/reddit-users-bypass-valve-linux-beta-invitations

    something is changing

however it contradicts itself, if you criticize closed systems so much, why do you make a closed source game?

      erm….

The truth is that it is not uncommon for demagogic speeches to lack coherence. They still don't have to try so hard to cajole the public.

Taking into account that it is an interview that never happened, it is not so bad either XD

Nonamed, did not criticize all closed systems, only Windows 8.
And… with that title… if there were in the contest of the best blogs an item that is «The most trolling title in history», they would win it from the drawer 😛
