Harmattan, magnificent pack for Conky for your desktop

Harmattan is a great pack for Conky, created by the Deviantart user zagortenay333, which is sure to attract a lot of attention for its visual elegance and diversity of available themes.

However, its installation is far from easy, especially for newbies. To help, its creator has included a complete step-by-step guide for installing this pack. What's more, there's even a helpful "troubleshooting" file that lists solutions for some of the most common problems.

Conky Harmattan

Harmattan includes:

  • 12 themes, some of which follow the visual style of Ubuntu Touch, Numix and Elementary, etc.
  • 4 display modes, including "mini" and "compact"
  • 2 modes to display the weather
  • Climate unit options (metric and imperial units)

Installation

1.- Before using Harmattan, you need to install Conky and curl.

En Debian / Ubuntu and derivatives:

sudo apt-get install conky-all curl

2.- Download Harmattan, unzip and follow the steps indicated in the readme file (it is likely that to view it you will have to press Ctrl + H in the file explorer as it is a hidden file).

Download Harmattan

    Pablo, as not all readers know English, I think you should add

    how to change city parameter for weather

    On the line
    # Various pictures #
    $ {execi 300 curl -s "http://weather.yahooapis.com/forecastrss?w=776688&u=c" -o ~ / .cache / weather.xml}

    By the way, if you know how - I looked and couldn't find it - how to change the 3-letter days of the MON TUE WED prediction to Spanish ...

    # The days of the forecast #
    \
    $ {color3} $ {voffset 172} $ {alignc 77} $ {execi 300 grep "yweather: forecast" ~ / .cache / weather.xml | grep -o "day = \" [^ \ "] * \» »| grep -o "\" [^ \ "] * \" "| grep -o "[^ \"] * "| awk 'NR == 1' | tr '[az]' '[AZ]'} $ {color}
    $ {color3} $ {voffset -13} $ {alignc} $ {execi 300 grep "yweather: forecast" ~ / .cache / weather.xml | grep -o "day = \" [^ \ "] * \» »| grep -o "\" [^ \ "] * \" "| grep -o "[^ \"] * "| awk 'NR == 2' | tr '[az]' '[AZ]'} $ {color}
    $ {color3} $ {voffset -13} $ {alignc -77} $ {execi 300 grep "yweather: forecast" ~ / .cache / weather.xml | grep -o "day = \" [^ \ "] * \» »| grep -o "\" [^ \ "] * \" "| grep -o "[^ \"] * "| awk 'NR == 3' | tr '[az]' '[AZ]'} $ {color}

      Me too, I was looking for that but, I think it comes in English. because the parameters that it brings come through XML from the yahoo page that is in English. Open that modifying the conky and the variables to translate them. Salu2 a hug.

    2.    let's use linux said

      It's like Fenriz says. That cannot be changed. : S
      The data comes from Yahoo ... unless where the url says you change it to the Yahoo one in Spanish (if there is such a thing, I don't know).
      Cheers! Paul.

    These conkys are very handsome but for some reason they all come out with disproportionately high degrees 54º or 59 XD I have not changed anything except the forescast to set the time of Barcelona. Would someone know why it happens?

    Hi. I installed the pack, but the weather information does not appear, I already changed the parameters for those of my city; In the terminal I get a message that the .cache / weather.xml file does not exist and I already checked and it does not exist, I hope someone reads this and can help me.
