How to change the User Agent in SRWare Iron

Ya we saw the advantages of using SRWare Iron instead of Chromium / Chrome and as I said in that article, change the User Agent Iron is very simple.

We just have to open a terminal as root, and create with our favorite text editor a file in / Opt / with the name UA.ini.

$ sudo nano /opt/UA.ini

We put in this file:

Mozilla / 5.0 (X11; Linux i686) AppleWebKit / 535.2 (KHTML, like Gecko) Debian Iron / 15.0.900.2 Safari / 535.2

And ready.

I can confirm it, it works.

Ok, in the comment the logo of the distro does not appear, but in the header of the blog it does. It's Chakra, by the way.

      1.    elav <° Linux said

I don't know why that logo comes out hahaha. I had seen it in my life. Maybe if you change Iron for SRWare Iron the original will come out 😀

  2.   gadi said

Let's try again. I have looked in another comment of mine above, without this modification, and yes, the correct thing is to put SRWare Iron. My line is:

    Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686) AppleWebKit/535.2 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chakra SRWare Iron/15.0.900.2 Safari/535.2

What happens is that the Chakra logo does not appear in the comments. As I say, in the header it does appear.

    1.    Courage said

The same is not added the logo of Chakra but at least the browser works perfectly

    2.    KZKG ^ Gaara <"Linux said

That's the fault of the comment plugin, which doesn't have Chakra support yet 🙁
I promise to modify the plugin when I have a chance, so I add support for Chakra, Pardus, Tuquito and some other distro 🙂

    3.    Erythrym said

Well, I have that line, changing Chakra for LMDE, of course, and the strange icon keeps appearing ...: S

      1.    KZKG ^ Gaara <"Linux said

What if you try "Linux Mint"?

        1.    Erythrym said

If I put Linux Mint it gives me what is now

        2.    Erythrym said

What seems strange to me is that above it keeps telling me that I have LMDE: S

          1.    Erythrym said

Ok, now you already updated XD
It already tells me that I have Mint and in the comments too, but in the browser symbol that strange icon keeps appearing

          2.    Courage said

            Show me the whole line

          3.    Erythrym said

The complete line is Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686) AppleWebKit/535.2 (KHTML, like Gecko) Linux Mint SRWare Iron/15.0.900.2 Safari/535.2

            1.    KZKG ^ Gaara <"Linux said

I think the ugly icon is simply because that is the icon that brings the plugin for Iron 🙁… damn, I really have to spend some time and modify the plugin that ¬¬

          4.    Courage said

            Will that Mozilla not influence?

          5.    Erythrym said

I don't know, I copied the code as Elav put it and I made the modifications so that, supposedly, it would show the browser and the operating system correctly ... since Iceweasel does not show me the operating system well in the comments, but that is because of the plugin, which doesn't have LMDE added yet

          6.    Courage said

Well elav to see if it happens because I think it could be Mozilla / 5.0

            1.    elav <° Linux said

It may be, I copied the line that came by default in Iron and only added Debian to it. Where I put Debian it said Chrome / 15.xx.xxxx

          7.    Erythrym said

Ok, my new line is the following:
            Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686) AppleWebKit/535.2 (KHTML, like Gecko) LMDE Chrome/15.0.900.2 Safari/535.2
Would it be fine like this, elav?

          8.    Erythrym said

Ok, now the OS does not detect me in the comments, but Chrome makes me browser ... let's see if leaving only Iron ...

  3.   gadi said

Sorry I floored the comments. New test.

    1.    Courage said

      You have loaded it

    2.    gadi said

Nothing, the only way for the correct browser logo to appear is without the modification. So I made the comment that Courage answered (I didn't notice reboot).

    3.    KZKG ^ Gaara <"Linux said

      Nothing man don't worry 😉

I have a problem with where the distro logo is displayed in the header. It shows me like this:

Dish, the link has not gone out before So

      1.    isar said

We are in the process of solving that problem 😀

  5.   jhals said

Sorry for the flood, but trying xD

    1.    jhals said

Apparently it only shows the Iron only xD, I would like to see the plugin code to see if it can be fixed or to see if they could already fix this 😀

      1.    isar said

I think the problem is that the Chrome string does not come out in the User-Agent, if now I get it right, I put my User-Agent

        1.    isar said

Okay, add Chrome / 15.0.900.2 after Iron / 15.0.900.2 and it should work for you.

Well no ... sorry to try commenting ...

      1.    ppsalama said

        nothing?

  7.   ppsalama said

Well, I don't want to flounder anymore. I have modified my user agent like this again (before it only put Iron)

    Mozilla / 5.0 (X11; Linux i686) AppleWebKit / 535.2 (KHTML, like Gecko) Archlinux SRWare Iron / 15.0.900.2 Safari / 535.2
if it doesn't come out ... is there a website where I can try (without having to comment here)?
    Thank you

Ok, I finally got it ..

    Mozilla / 5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit / 535.2 (KHTML, like Gecko) ArchLinux Iron / 15.0.900.2 Safari / 535.2

    That's the UA.ini line for ArchLinux ..

    1.    Manual of the Source said

According to UserAgentString.com is wrong, it should be like this:

      Mozilla / 5.0 (X11; Arch Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit / 535.2 (KHTML, like Gecko) Iron / 15.0.900.2 Chrome / 15.0.900.2 Safari / 535.2

Only that way does it say that you use "Arch Linux distribution". But he still recognizes it in the comments and the logo of the sidebar, so if you like stick with that one.
