As some of you may know, I am currently using ArchBang on my laptop. Archbang is based on Openbox and uses xcompmgr to handle some desktop effects (shadows, window fading, etc.).
The other day I was wondering how to achieve a exposé effect (present a screenshot of all open windows) in open box, without use Compiz. That's when i discovered Skippy. |
Skippy it is available in the Mandriva and Fedora repositories, but not in the Debian and Ubuntu repositories. There are also no PPAs available. To install it, you can follow the instructions included here o here.
Fortunately, those Arch-based distros can install Skippy very easily using AUR:
yaourt -S skippy-xd
Once installed, just run it and press F11 to bring up something similar to the following:
The interesting thing is that the catches are "alive"; as in Compiz if in one of the windows you are playing a video, in Skippy it will be seen.
An excellent alternative for those who use low-income computers.

Good Tip ...
