A little app called ubuntu-installer for Android, available at Android Market, lets you do just that: install Ubuntu on our smartphone. |
The application itself is an installer for an adapted version of Ubuntu with LXDE desktop, well, actually there are two, one light and one heavier that includes all the necessary programs to start working, and even with its own software center called Ubuntu Update Manager.
This version is fully optimized for ARM devices, allows you to run both systems at the same time and even set the screen size at startup to suit the type of device.
The requirements to execute it are:
- Have root permissions
- 1 GHz processor (recommended)
- Android 2.1 or higher
- Kernel will loop device support (this is included in most ROM's)
- SD card with at least 3,5 GB free space for the large image (2,5 GB for the small image)
- Data connection
- Ext2 file system support
Before testing it, check that your device is on the list of supported devices.
Download Ubuntu Installer
This is another version. Run straight on the phone.
Cheers! Paul.
means that this is a complete operating system….
Requires Android 2.2+ I had my hopes up when reading the post 🙁
I answer myself: In the description it says 2.1 but in the market it says 2.2, I have sent an email to the developer in case it is a typographical error.
is it a version of ubuntu that runs on the same smartphone?
Or is it the version that you showed in another entry which allows you to connect your android to a monitor to start Ubuntu on the monitor?
Where it is downloaded
I don't know how there can be people who make this kind of videos, if it seems that you have colitis from how fast you are ...

I have a Galaxy S3 and it is not rooted, is it advisable to do it to use this? I'm a little scared, what do you recommend?
I would like to know if this system eliminates the andriod or needs it to be able to run…. Since if it is an installation, I do not know if it formats or only one system is mounted on the other
