Surely it ever happened to you that you wanted to manipulate a disk, partition, pendrive, etc. intuitively. Well, to the joy of all of us, this is a very simple task in GNOME. |
Although it is very little known and used, there is a simple and very powerful tool called Disk Utility, which is already installed in Ubuntu and in most of all the most popular distros, which we can access by going to System> Administration> Utility Of discs.
This marvel allows us to mount / unmount any drive and volume, regardless of the file system that the latter handle. Additionally, you can also check the file system, safely remove the drive, format the volume or drive, and even perform a drive performance test.
In case your distribution does not come with this little program included, I recommend that you look for it in your software administrator. In English, it's called gnome-disk-utility. If by any of those coincidences you still do not have it installed on your Ubuntu, you can install it from repositories very easily.
The option to "mount at startup" would be missing for the disk partitions and it is the ostia xD
I always find it difficult to modify the fstab file and I have to resort to some program that I will only use once in my life.
Che, what program is that? Do you know any graphical interface to modify fstab?
Until now I did everything by hand with gedit or nano ... 🙁

Cheers! hears! I have a question, if I want to partition the hard disk that I am using (where my OS is installed) I will not be able to modify its size until I dismount it, my question is if something happens if I dismount it at that moment, that is, if two unmount the disk hard where is my system running ...
Thank you! 😀
excellent blog!
Look, if I'm not mistaken, it won't let you unmount the partition where / is installed, that is, your operating system. So what you ask can never happen. Cheers! Thank you for your question. A big hug! Paul.
