How to maximize any application to full screen

Ubuntu Netbook Remix offers the possibility to maximize any application to full screen, allowing make the most of the screen space available on our small netbooks. For similar functionality, while also removing the menu and application borders, you can use a little known little tool called "Maximus".

Maximus just remove the top borders of the windows, as well as the scroll bars and menus so that you can work on your own making good use of all the screen real estate. Of course, the "price" you have to pay is that you will only be able to work with one window at a time. In case you need to temporarily use some of these elements that Maximus "removes", you can press Alt + Spacebar + X to make them reappear.

If you like it, you can add Maximus to the startup applications. System> Preferences> Startup Applications. Add> maximus. Otherwise, you can run it every time you need it.

Fortunately, it is available in the repositories of all Ubuntu versions. So installing it is a potato.

sudo apt-get install maximus
