Boot Repair is a Graphic interface to correct the problems with the Grub, which could prevent us from restarting our computer, that some of our operating systems does not appear, etc. |
The best way to use it is by booting Ubuntu from a Live USB.
To install it, I opened a terminal and typed:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa: yannubuntu / boot-repair sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install boot-repair
The program is very easy to use and is self explanatory.
Once the changes have been made, a box will appear confirming that the changes were made successfully. For them to take effect, we need to restart our computer.
For a complete tutorial on how to recover your Grub, I recommend you read the Ubuntu help.

It is easier for me with the super grub disk, tell it to detect my installed operating systems and start my distro directly, then in a terminal sudo grub-mkconfig, after that sudo grub-install / dev / sda and finally sudo update-grub.
like this or easier 😀
Interesting!
I think it should work without problems. 🙂
Cheers! Paul.
very good blog kompadre !!!!
Thank you! A hug!!
Pablo.
Yes ... there are different ways to do it. 🙂
Some time ago I made a post about it but using the dd command

Good info 😉

interesting, I'm going to try it. So far I have been using the grub customizer, since having only the .deb installs without problems. It is that at school it is a permanent discussion with those who install w $ and cancel dual boot. salu2
OKAY. I will take it into account for a future post.
Cheers! Paul.
BROTHER GIVES ME AN ERROR Processing triggers for python-support ...
Errors were encountered while processing:
man-db
E: Sub-process / usr / bin / dpkg Returned an error code (1)
EXCELLENT !! Many thanks!
what happened is that i wanted to install ubuntu apart from debian. I love debian, but for a little problem I wanted to try ubuntu ... I had a terrible taste in my mouth ... because when I installed it, I deleted the grub ... I was looking for a while until I found your blog
Thank you very much!
ps: the bad thing is that now in grub I get like 6 different debian's ... I know that they are all the same ... but I don't know if you could upload a tutorial on how to edit grub 🙂 to delete options or to enter with a default one ... Thanks a lot. Cheers
Hi, thanks for this article!
The Boot-Repair has been improved a lot recently, it is even simpler and has more options!
You can add kernel options to GRUB, restore a generic bootsector to restore shortcut to Windows (XP, Vista, Seven), create a 1-click Boot-Info report, and much more! (RAID, LVM ...)
(and now you just need: sudo apt-get install boot-repair)
And for your convenience, there is an Ubuntu disk that already has Boot-Repair pre-installed in Spanish: Ubuntu Secured ( https://sourceforge.net/p/ubuntu-secured/home/Home/ )
Good date! Thanks for sharing it.
ok look it worked for me in linux mint uff finally one easy and that works. but when I go to see a partition of data format ntfs it is no longer there and I do not know where to look for it. It's like I don't recognize her, how can I see that

How weird ... did you try using the method described in this post?
Cheers! Paul.
I solved it, the problem was that the data partition remained as primary, making linux believe that it was the boot system, it left the data partition as logical and voila
Wii
there is no
sudo apt-get install boot-repair-ubuntu
E: Unable to locate package boot-repair-ubuntu
Possibly this is because there are no packages for the version of Ubuntu you are using (yes for others). 🙁
Dear, everything is fine. Except that:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa: yannubuntu / boot-repair
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install boot-repair
This is how it should go, otherwise it doesn't install the packages.
Hello, I had win7 installed with mageia, but after touching the disk with win, deleting partitions because I had tried to install ubuntru, I had a mess in the partitions, now nothing starts, grub error appears.
Works Perfect on Linux Mint 17.1 x64… !!!
In other places they did it with a stack of commands that in the end did not work. You have saved us a lot of time.
Thanks Miles!
How do I do for mint?
