How to restore the network manager applet in case of accidental deletion

Today I deleted the network manager applet (the one that appears in the GNOME panel and that allows you to choose the Wi-Fi network to connect to, etc.) unintentionally and had no idea how to restore it.

Digging around the net, I found that many recommended right-clicking on the dashboard. GNOME> Add to Panel> Notification Area. Unfortunately this solution did not work for me. 🙁 However, when reinstalling the applet everything worked fine. In Ubuntu, this is achieved like this: sudo apt-get --reinstall install network-manager-gnome.

Hello, in the school where I work it is very common to delete it. I think this option is better:
to. go to system-> preferences-> applications at startup
    b. put «add»
    c. They name it Network Manager and in order they put "nm-applet –sm-disable"
    d. Close the session and log in again.
    clever

Thanks for reminding me how to install the network icon in the bar, I couldn't find the solution and the web gave many absurd answers. I knew it was simple, but it was gone, with reading your answer I remembered. I happen to update and I delete the gnome network icon ... Thank you.

Right click on the GNOME panel> Add to panel> Notification area.
If not, I followed the advice given in the post.
    Cheers! Paul.

I recommend that you install the Wicd network manager, it is in the Ubuntu repositories, I like it better than the networkmanager, it is written in python.

The same thing happened to me, but I realized that if you add and restart, it goes ...
I don't know much about how it works, I suppose it's because of the way an icon appears there, something is executed, then it appears there ...

I have carried out all the procedures that I have found and the network manager still does not appear in the panel next to the volume icon, as before ... and it is necessary for me to be able to connect from my Claro 3g broadband (I am a beginner) . i have ubuntu 11.04. In add to panel the network manager applet option does not seem to me, I went to Systems> preferences> startup applications (it does not appear either, so I added it: In name: Network manager / Command: «nm-applet –sm -disable »/ comment: Check your network connections) also update the gnome-network-admin. and still nothing. This ultim gave me hope, but I rebooted and nothing
    Someone could help me?
ahh and the "nm-applet" does not appear on the systems monitor. HELP !!!
    Thank you

When I turned it on again it would not start me, looking on the internet I have managed to start it and recover the things that I had on the hard disk, but what I do not get in any way is the Wi-Fi connection that I had, I have tried all the commands and nothing . I do not get. It tells me that rl network manager is not running
