How to use the classic GNOME desktop in GNOME 3

A few days ago we discussed and discussed together about a post posted by himself Linus Torvalds, which made mention of his dislike regarding the changes introduced by GNOME 3. Back then, the most experienced of our readers recalled a tip that not everyone knows: how to use GNOME 3 but with a visual arrangement similar to which it came by default in GNOME 2.

In case you don't have it installed, just open a terminal and write:

sudo apt-get install gnome-session-fallback

Finally, restart the computer and when entering your username and password, from the session selection window, choose «Classic Gnome».

This is, as emerges from the comments of the aforementioned post, the best way for the GNOME guys to follow: to allow those who want to return to an environment similar to the classic GNOME 2 to switch to a "fallback mode", but based on GNOME 3. Sure, those who prefer to "innovate" should be able to use the new visual layout of GNOME 3. So, everyone is happy. How about?

Well, there are always dislikes when a new interface is released ... now I use gnome 2.32 ... unity, I didn't like it at all ... but in the end, I think the developers win the urge to compete with w7 and mac-Lion in terms of aesthetics ... They took a risk and well there are the results (and of course, who does not risk does not win) ... But one thing is certain, they are still the bright side of the software. And it is clear that they will be recomposed based on the comments made by users and that users will also be able to change what they want about gnome3, according to the simple fact of how much they know and know, and take the trouble to learn how to modify your system, just as "free" philosophy proposes.
