Install your favorite version of Ubuntu on Raspberry Pi

The popularity of Raspberry Pi and that of all mini-computers continues to grow and it seems that it will continue to do so for some time. A few years ago it was just a dream that Ubuntu or some other system could be installed on such a small device. But currently it is a reality thanks to the application Ubuntu Pi Flavor Maker, application with which it is possible install the "flavors" or versions of Ubuntu on the Raspberry Pi with an ease and speed that is truly amazing.

At the moment, this version of Ubuntu Pi Flavor Maker only compatible with Raspberry Pi 2 (The original version of Raspberry and the Raspberry Pi Zero apparently are not powerful enough). And its operation is very simple, it consists of a Script that makes almost all the versions that we have of Ubuntu are compatible with the characteristic architecture of this minicomputer.

This project was developed as a kind of "spin-off" to Ubuntu Mate for Raspberry Pi, and its objective was that users could enjoy all the benefits of Ubuntu on board. And they achieved their goal based on the well-known Ubuntu for ARM.

One of the points in favor of this utility is that it allows you to work with the typical Ubuntu package installers (apt, dpkg) and with that have the same features you have on your desktop Ubuntu; although of course, there will always be some processor and RAM limitations.

The operating system that we install is already fully compatible with all hardware architecture of the Raspberry Pi and also with everything that we connect to any of the expansion ports and / or pins it has (GPIO, SPI, I2C ...) and that is something that is more than positive and that should be highlighted.

For now, it does not support Ubuntu's Snappy technology or distribution updates, which is due to hardware limitations of single-board teams. Nor can we still enjoy the KDE Plasma, Gnome or Unity desktops since they will not work due to limitations.

It is certainly a project that has many more pros than cons and that I think has a lot of life ahead of it and it is a very interesting initiative that gives a privileged place to light desks like Xfce or Lxde that the most suitable to work with the low resources of the Raspberry Pi. And surely the most powerful desktops can be available in future versions of Raspberry Pi.

To download it we just have to visit the official page of Ubuntu Pi Flavor Maker where we can choose the ISO image of our favorite flavor of Ubuntu that we want install.

Peeeeeeerooooooo …… how does it work? or the information is very good but can you see a fluent video from youtube ???
Because I had tried the matte version, debian, and everything is ok, I have an operating system that works like a word processor …… ..
Currently I use OSMC in raspberry pi 2, and it reproduces wonderfully everything that is videos and streaming…. I do not understand how it can be that the operating systems do not work in the same way ... If I remember correctly it was because OSMC uses hardware acceleration and the OS does not ... (but I really don't know). On the other hand OSMC "promised" a browser for "sometime" ... if it came out it would be great.
Greetings and thanks for the article.
