I don't know, it seems a bit early to be with the new version

Little by little everyone begins to release new versions quickly and continuously, I do not know if this is the most successful. Google Chrome can be said to have started it, and Firefox is going and now more or less KDE ... I like this less and less.
At least when I see a new version whose number is quite different (Ex: Firefox 3.6 and 4) I expect a lot of changes, news, but now I see too many new versions so that in the end, it is almost almost the same product ¬_¬

True, I do not agree to evolve to evolve, all this versionitis after all bores me by not seeing significant changes. But of course; That's how it is "The World of Today."

Likewise ... new versions no longer mean new and better changes, this is something that if mentioned 5 years ago, they called me crazy 0_o

HAHAHAHA I knew you didn't mention Ubuntu a while ago hahahaha.
Ubuntu yes, it started me in this world ... I have a lot to thank you for, I almost fell in love with this distro but ... at some point after Karmic Koala began to decline, until it became what T_T is today.

Sure, that's why these cycles so often seem stupid to me, you can always do it like with Mandriva, slow down a bit but I think that is not the solution.

Yes ... I started with Intrepid Ibex, but that version was good, not like the ones now, I prefer to install W $ and so I can't stand the ubunto

I am not against versionitis but if it is done well, I will explain:

What should not be done is to work in a hurry to meet the schedule, never, because the development affected me in a negative way, and just to increase the number, it is something very bad for the user. If things can be done well and quickly, all the better, of course this is very difficult, you have to find a balance. I think you can mark calendars with tight times, but in case the developers see that the hasty release of that new version can cause problems (because it is not polished) that the calendar is delayed until everything works correctly.

What I do not want is that they have to spend years from one version to another, as this can also cause other problems (usually security, but also lack of functionality). The KDE team has always worked hard, they should take a break and build a very solid foundation for their product. This change should be made for version 5. That is, version 5 is a completely stable and renewed base from which you can work more comfortably. That (from my point of view) should be the main goal for said version. Although good, it will be seen xD

And regarding Ubuntu ... I use Kubuntu, for its ease of use and because it was the first one that was recommended to me xD I have been using it for more than 1 year and so far it has gone well for me, it does the job (or rather, it does the what I need). Now that I am going to start university and do engineering they have already warned us that we will use Linux, so I am a little undecided xD of course I will have to find the most appropriate distro for my work for the Uni (I start tomorrow, what nerves hahah!) .

What cannot be denied is that Ubuntu helps Linux initiates and if we like this distro, we don't use it and now, the variety in Linux is incredible (and magnificent by the way) so it only remains to wish the best to all distributions well we are not here to fight 😀

    Regards!

What can't be denied is that Ubuntu helps Linux insiders

But others like Mageia or Kororaa do it and better

HAHAHAHA let's not start, elav could tell you how disappointed he is in Mageia, Kororaa no idea… I don't know her. Look, I have not tried Pardus or Chakra, but I would dare to recommend them, apparently they are quite friendly.

        1.    Courage said

No, you cannot recommend Chakra lightly, it is friendlier than Arch but maybe for someone with little experience no, I don't know how long Thunder has been in Linux so I prefer not to play it.

For Chakra, ask Jesus Ballesteros if he has it installed there

I will answer this the next day, so I imagine you already started the Univ. Haha.
Nothing looks, I would recommend Debian, it is not sooooo complicated like other distros (Arch, Slackware, Gentoo) and since you are used to Ubuntu (.deb packages), you will not have much work to adapt in a general way.
The issue with Debian is that it does not install everything by default like Ubuntu does, that is, you will have to install whatever you need ... you will learn a lot about Linux packages, configurations, directory structure, desktop environments, etc. etc.

Fight over distros? No man at all, I fight with elav simply because yes, if he says white I will say black, it has been like that for quite some time HAHAHA, we fight not for distros, but to go the other way LOL !!!
Seriously, I have chosen to ignore these "little wars", if you are happy with the distro that you use well, great, but if you are going to defend it tooth and nail, at least you should know it well. I personally know an official Debian and Ubuntu developer, he's a guy who, as we say here, "is escaped" (means he's a fucking genius), uses Ubuntu and no one dares to criticize him for using a distro aimed at newbies haha, well we all know that he is not a noob ...

      Greetings partner.

The best thing is that you write a post where you make a selection of distros and recommend them for a particular audience.

More than anything by order, not to mention it in other articles

It seems to me that the KDE ones go too fast. If I were them, I would finish polishing what is already there (although it takes a little bit) and then release another version. Or it could have two development branches, something like Debian, a stable product to which improvements are being made and a Testing one, which would become the next stable.
