LibreOffice 4.0.3 minor artwork improvements

I take this opportunity to announce some small improvements for LibreOffice icons. I have added more icons to Faenza Icons, I have also created a new theme called Simple Kalahari to give a bit of diversity.

Simple Kalahari is still in development

I tell you that I have had problems with the LibreOffice VCL Libraries, since they do not recognize the icons with transparencies, for that reason I am changing the Faenza icons.

The downside of using transparent icons in LibreOffice is that inactive icons are not visible. I leave you some images of the changes made.

Well I presented my work to the LIbreOffice developers and they gave me the go-ahead. One of the main developers of the icons in LibreOffice is Mirek2, the one in charge of maintaining the Tango icons in LibreOffice. Issa Alkurtas is developing icons called Flat icons.

You as users can help with your ideas to improve the icons and constructive criticism. You can communicate with me through Gnome-look.org that is through the download link of the icons.

    Goodbye the icons.

    Good work, keep it up!

Yes, I would like to suggest something, although it is not because of the subject of the article. It is neither very new nor very original: it is about organizing the program menus on one side (in gimp, blender, etc).
I think it would be a great advance because LibreOffice would gain in usability since it takes better advantage of the screen (especially when the screens that are sold now are 16: 9). Maybe you already know what I mean, if not, there is a link: http://pauloup.deviantart.com/gallery/28216273
It would also be an advance if a small edit menu would appear when selecting any item next to the selected item (those of us who come from Microsoft Office - I, at least - miss it).
Anyway, I think it would not hurt if someone who reads this post and is in contact with the LibreOffice people, informs us if they are in it or not.
    Thank you very much again.

LibreOffice is integrating AOO patches for the "Sidebar".

      1.    marianogaudix said

Fitoschido you said a month ago that AOO had not changed
not contradictory. I imagine that the Sidebar will only be implemented in Impress to organize things better.

If the sidebar is adopted with the style of Lotus in Writer or Calc, it would be a contradiction of the LibreOffice project and it would no longer be an independent project if not dependent on AOO 4.X.

Something that I did not like about Lotus is the Combo box, they do not behave as such. They would have to create a button that activates a popup window…. I was able to do it with Gtk 3.6. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ckRn_sx8CE

        1.    Phytoschido said

I do not see the contradictory, sorry.

Good. Now the libreoffice will be really productive.

We have to see if it can be done with the very bad VCL Libraries of LibreOffice.
It would be a miracle if I see LibreOffice as that mockup.

. VCL Libraries are not compatible with Gtk 3.6 or Qt 4.11 so LibreOffice does not work well in KDE or GNOME.
      //////////////////////////////////////////////////// //////////////////////////////
I created a small POC with Gtk 3.6

try doing something similar to that mockup you placed.

Excellent!!! If something could be criticized LibreOffice it was exactly this.

    1.    marianogaudix said

Something that bothers me is that in LibreOffice in their forums there are many who sell smoke that are from vases and they spend their time talking blah, blah ..., and that they did not help me at all.

To create these icons I had to learn it myself with trial and error. I'm helping the folks at Awken Dark, FS Icons and Nitrux develop their LibreOffice packs. Why LibreOffice is better together, plus
and it will be wonderful to see the Awken Dark, FS Icons and Nitrux icons enrich the diversity.

It looks very good, but now I want to ask you something

My Libre Office looks awful, has a Windows 98 all-over look and I was never able to change it.

I looked around and I could never find out why it looks like this .. anyone have any idea how to change it? I'm on Manjaro Xfce

    1.    marianogaudix said

You are seeing the incompatibility of VCL libraries with GTK.

      Watch this tutorial

      http://elsoftwarelibre.wordpress.com/2011/01/03/libreoffice-via-ppa-para-kubuntu-10-04-10-10-y-11-04/

      XFCE is written with GTK

therefore you have to patch it for the integration of the graphical interface.

I opened the terminal and placed

      sudo apt-get install libreoffice-gnome

      ///////////////////////////////////////////////
you can also install the patch library through synaptic

      place in synaptic finder

      libreoffice-gnome and libreoffice-gtk3

      install the libraries.

The icons are spectacular, thank you very much !!! 🙂

Your welcome, please ……. I recommend that you enter the Gnome-look.org page from time to time to download the icons ……… since I add the missing icons to the pack to complete it.

      Greetings Mariano.

First of all, I want to congratulate you on the excellent work with the Faenza icons for LibreOffice. Congratulations, you are excellent. 😉

Second, I came up with a system to avoid the Italic, Bold and UNDERLINED icon bug:

The problem is with the images in the files in the language-specific folders. That is, within the CMD folders for each language there are custom icons for that language.

In our case, in the ES folder there are the blue icons that appear by mistake.

The solution I propose is to make a symbolic link instead of deleting them.

In the following link is the solution applied and tested (in GNU / Linux):

    A greeting!

Thank you very much for helping me jeSuSdA 8), I really appreciate it.

I have just modified the Kalahari icons to solve the same error, I also changed the direction of the arrows for the countries with Muslim writing in Faenza and Kalahari.

Make the UPDATE now at gnome-look.org to notify of the changes.

Thank you very much JesUSdA 8)

      No need, Mariano.

Thank you for your wonderful work. The icons look great and blend in perfectly with the rest of my desktop. 😉

Greetings and I hope they include them by default in the next versions of LibreOffice!

A libreoffice question will one day be raised to change its interface and seeing that for a long time I say that it would change to Citrus or other appearances one day it will end up doing it or they do not see it clear to change its appearance.
