The Document Foundation today announced that work on the next version of LibreOffice (issue 6.1) will begin this week with the release of the first alpha build and the bug-finding season.
LibreOffice 6.1 is an update focused on refreshing the online experience and improving the Writer and Calc components. first bug and bug search session will begin at the end of this week, April 27, the same date that the developers will review the alpha version by releasing it to the public a few days later, when a large number of bugs have already been found and fixed.
“During launch day there will be two dedicated sessions on two features released in LibreOffice 6.1, the first to test image handling improvements and the second to test the HSQLDB import filter for firebird,” says Mike Saunders.

According to the launch plan, LibreOffice 6.1 will enter beta at the end of May with a second beta in mid-June. After this, it is planned that at least three RC versions will be released between July and the first weeks of August so that the final version will be released in the middle of that same month.
