LightDM is almost among us already.

Many already know of LightDM, the new session manager that will replace GDM in Ubuntu 11.10. From WebUp8.org I see this screenshot, the first one that appears on the net linked to LightDM:

What can be seen is the 1st theme for LightDM that has come to light, is called «Unity Greeter" Y available for Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot en Lauchpad.

This topic is far from finished, because it was uploaded quite recently, and its design is really simple, rather it seems to us a preliminary draft or mockup on which you could work.

En WebUp8.org share a GIF that shows something that I do consider novel: «animations«. This theme apparently supports animations, which I find really interesting.

As such, there are no large mockup for LightDM, so we can still dream that Canonical show us up with a genius or something.
If you use Ubuntu Oneiric Ocelot you can install it with:

sudo apt-get install unity-greeter

If you don't use Ubuntu Oneiric Ocelot You can install LightDM by following the following tutorial: http://www.muylinux.com/2011/06/29/como-probar-lightdm-ubuntu

This is all. At the moment we can only be pending, hope that for this next version of Ubuntu applications are as stable as they should be, and new things are for the better.
regards
