Limbo: Interesting 2D game available on Steam

I'm one of those who if I'm going to play on Linux, I like games with measured graphics, come on, similar to Dont Starve. Limbo meets this requirement, it is a game that although it is not addictive like those of our smartphones (as Flappy Bird or Geometry Dash), entertains and helps to pass the time, with the plus that by not having super graphic effects, the performance is always optimal.

Limbo plot

Our main character is a boy (whose name is unknown), at the beginning of the story he wakes up in the middle of a forest, all dark ... we only notice a shadow with two white dots that, as we imagine, must be his eyes.

From that moment the boy begins to look for his sister, and there the adventure begins. He will find few humans, those who will attack him ... or not, it depends if they are alive or not heh ... heh ... heh ...

Limbo seems to be a simple game, however ... as time goes by, we notice that it has "something" to tell, there is a story hidden there in the shadows that will emerge and we will be able to see ... Limbo has something to tell, among so much mystery and suspense yes but "something" that I would venture to call "a solid story."

As the game progresses, in order to continue advancing, it will not be enough just to find the right path, traps, questions, puzzles that we must solve to continue will be presented to us, and of course, they will become more and more complex.

Available on Steam

As I said at the beginning, this game is available in Steam for $ 9.99, the hardware requirements are as we can imagine very few ... 1GB of RAM, a CPU at 2.0Ghz or more, as well as graphics compatible with OpenGL 2.0

Here are some sample images:

Conclusions

This is an extremely entertaining game, it does not have tricks to (for example) always answer correctly all the puzzles which is something positive in my opinion. Of course, the story at the end can be a bit ... let's say, disappointing, they must reach the end and draw their own conclusions.

About cheats ... it's something I like about Linux games, the non-existence (or little existence) of cheats in our games, so those who are used to playing with tricks or looking for them from their favorite games, such as, Geometry Dash cheats They will have a bad time hehe.

Greetings and… enjoy!

The AUR package requires access to HumbleBundle by the installer, nothing more legal.

    Good review!

I played and passed it under Linux, except not on Steam. I'd have to install it by that means to confirm, but at least the HumbleBundle installer is the same Windows binary packaged with Wine.
The game is good, environmentally very good, as a puzzle not so much. It is worth buying.

I leave a recommendation for everyone, before buying a game on Steam directly, check the Humble Store for the price of it. I have seen that in many cases they are not only cheaper in the HumbleBundle store, but in addition to giving the key to play it on Steam, they also usually include the DRM-free copy and occasionally the music of the game.

    Bye! »

And isn't it free? I mean this about steam in Gnu / Linux is good, but I feel that they restrict me a lot, unless there is a way to crack them by steam and that I don't know about it.
I mean, never in my life have I really paid for a game, except for cds of tricksy games.
That is, if it is for the games it is better to use Windows, where you do not have to pay anything and there is much more variety.
Also, for those who follow the philosophy of free software, I am not the case, those games do not serve them because they are proprietary, and, although it is good to have games and so on, it would be good if Gnu / Linux continues to represent free software and not that it is filled with proprietary software.
What do you think? For me there are two options if Linux starts to be more successful as an OS, that people start using it, but that they start filling it more and more with proprietary software, forgetting what free software is, or that little by little the software that was previously proprietary becomes free or even more free software companies emerge with more money to create higher quality things than there are now.
Like the second I do not know if it is possible, because free software is not so profitable, I say if anyone can republish all the software that I make for free, then there is something that does not work at all, unless the companies that make software live off donations or be a giant community of geeks who do it in their free time for fun, which seems less possible to me, at least to do well-elaborated things I see it unlikely.

Although, now that I think about it, that also happens with proprietary software companies, although many pirate it and pay nothing, the companies are still standing and continue to earn money, I suppose there must still be "honest" people who are paying games, I can't think of another way they can back up. So I guess the second option is possible.

Limbo is an excellent game, one of the best indies out there (although without becoming one of the indie masterpieces). Totally recommended.

Excellent game and Excellent setting. Game a bit strange, without a soundtrack, but that is capable of having you tied to the gamepad for a long time

on the identi.li page in the linux part that has the following link http://www.identi.li/index.php?cat=126 They put it to me that this is a .sh that contains it in addition to there being a huge amount of pirated games good for Linux, I hope you like

It seems to me that promoting piracy is not right. A lot of work has cost that games for GNU / Linux began to appear so that now we begin to pirate them…. so we are going to discourage the developers who bet on this to quit.

The game looks very good, how about the soundtrack?

It is not to promote piracy, I live in a country that is blocked and we do not have a form of payment to buy legally, I only announce it there for those who do not have the means and resources.
