Wireless Network Monitor: LinSSID

Some time ago I was working on a small project where I had to place two AP in a way where there is a slight overlap.

What do I mean? Because my Access Points had the same Network name and password but different channel, which means that you can extend the same network in a certain area without going around placing different Network names on each one.

To all this you need to use a tool called INSIDER, very good cute and simple.

But since I was also interested in the world of Linux I wanted to be able to use it in it. But for some reason the developers abandoned the project INSSIDs for Linux 🙁 a shame since I liked it a lot, both to place antennas in a better position and to place the APs at a good distance without having losses or gaps.

Look and I came across this guys ... LinSSID

The way to install it in Arch it's really simple, we just need yogurt and voila 😀

$ yaourt -S linssid

and voila we have this simple but useful tool.

For users of Debian, SHE ISrebellion and derivatives I am aware that there are also repositories for them. but it would be a matter of looking 🙂 as far as I know in this link are the sources http://sourceforge.net/projects/linssid/ of the project.

But hey You are Linuxeros 😀 who cannot find 😀 or compile!
Greetings and I hope it is useful for some curious soul.

    Hello!

    In the article you mention that you wanted two aps with the same name and different channel, but in the photo you can see two networks with different names and the same channel ...

    It just baffled me a bit 😀

    Good utility, although I think I have seen it in Beini to browse wireless networks.

      Off-Topic: How strange that the user agent did not detect me that I am under Windows 8: / - I only use Windows, anyway I am in Virtualized Win testing the new 8.1 😀

    I was just denying because INSSIDER didn't work in wine. Blessed are the rss and infinite thanks to beny_hm.
    Certainly after ap 16 it starts to fall short of colors but it works quite well. Later I will see if wavemon does not have many dependencies and I will test it as well.
