KDE Applications is an open source software package designed as part of the KDE ecosystem that offers the ability to also be used independently on any Linux-based operating system, in addition to the fact that some of the applications are cross-platform and can be used in other operating systems, such is the case of the Kdenlive video editor.
Now this suite of applications has received a new update which is KDE Applications 19.12 in which the new versions of the KDE Dolphin file explorer, Kdenlive, the Okular document viewer, the Gwenview image viewer, among others of the other applications that make up this suite are received.
In the announcement of this new version of KDE Applications 19.12 developers presume that all these applications have been improved, making them faster and more stable, and they have new and exciting features.
What's new in KDE Applications 19.12?
Among the main changes of this new version of KDE applications, it is highlighted that KDE Connect was rewritten using the Kirigami framework, that made possible build the builds not only for Android, but also for other Linux-based environments, for example used on smartphones PinePhone and Librem 5.
The application can also be used to organize the connection of two desktops using these functions such as playback control, remote input, call initiation, file transfer, and command launch. This offers now a new SMS application that allows users to read and write messages text with the complete conversation history.
