maquette is a WYSIWYG editor, (What You See Is What You Get, “what you see is what you get”), by open source, with features like drag and drop to create HTML5 user interfaces, both desktop and mobile devices.
Maqetta's own interface is written in HTML 5 and runs from the browser without the need for plugins. It can be downloaded and installed on personal servers or used online on its own website. |
Maqetta was developed by IBM, and was presented to the public during the IBM Impact 2011 conference. The project was subsequently donated by IBM to the Dojo Foundation as a free and open source software project.
The editor was developed in response to a perceived need for an HTML5 development tool comparable to those available for Adobe Flash and Microsoft Silverlight.
Maqetta is fully functional in the latest generation browsers that support HTML5 and mobility-based systems such as iPhone, Android, Windows Phone 7 and BlackBerry. The tool that IBM has presented is free for developers in its current Preview state.
The application can be tested on your website in two ways, either in a temporary session without registration, which loses what we have done when closing it, or by registration, in which case the work is saved for later sessions.
When it is definitively completed, Maqetta (whose pronunciation is like in Spanish “mock-up”), will be hosted on the Dojo Foundation portal and available for free. The current Preview version, available from April 10, can be downloaded directly in a 33 MB compressed file in “zip” format.
