Microsoft has created a new font for developers

If you no longer like the Font of your terminal or you just want to refresh your view with a new font, you're in luck. Microsoft has launched a font especially for this section.

The new source, which is open source, is called Cascadia Code and was created using the Windows terminal as referencein addition to the Visual Studio Code code editor.

Cascade Code is a monospaced font, which means that letters, numbers, symbols and spaces share the same horizontal space, this way it is easier to differentiate them.

Microsoft mentions that this new font has support for ligatures in programming.

"Symbol unions or ligatures in programming are very useful when writing code as new characters can be created. This makes the code more readable and friendly for some people”Is explained in the official publication.

Cascadia Font is open source and can be downloaded from your official page on GitHub, it is not necessary to compile it, Microsoft has published the .ttf file to install it directly.

If you want to activate this font in Visual Studio Code you can do it in File> Preferences> Settings, in the fonts section of the Commonly Used section. Remember that you also have to activate the ligatures in the same section.
