Mozilla Firefox launches new logo in version 23 Beta

It is actually the same old logo, but with some adjustments in its design to adapt it to mobile devices with low screen resolution.

Although according to what they tell us in FirefoxmaniaApparently the designers or members of the Mozilla creative team liked the new proposal for the rest of the devices.

New_Firefox_Logo

I like the change, it looks much cleaner and more beautiful. We can compare it by looking at the following image that shows the evolution of the logo of Firefox since 2004.

You can see the detailed explanation of the design in the blog of Sean Martell.

offtopic mir already supports gnome shell, lubuntu, xubuntu.

    1.    elav said

      And Kubuntu won't use it .. 😛

      1.    diazepam said

        1) It will be difficult when having Ubuntu, you want to install Kubuntu Desktop
        2) Mir in the end is going to come for ubuntu 13.10, with X in fallback mode.

        1.    eliotime3000 said

And can't you just add the X11 codes to make fallback work?

      2.    cat said

apparently due to the constant friction between the people of Kubuntu and Canonical, Kubuntu will no longer be a flavor of Ubuntu but will become a derived distro (like Mint for example).

        1.    dwarf said

Hmmm it may be, yes, but things are going to get really ugly when they come to face the Wayland distros with which they have Mir ... it will not be pretty and we will have a lot of bad shots if we start to see applications that work in one and in another no and blah blah blah

          1.    eliotime3000 said

They will surely give up for MIR and use Wayland by force (in case the users make Cannonical hear their voices, of course).

          What is its source?

          1.    eliotime3000 said

MuyLinux.com has that information. Check their news.

    2.    vicky said

It doesn't support it, what it supports is Xmir which is basically a copy of xwayland ..

I think the fanboys will not understand.

A constructive criticism .. ..I think it would be much more orderly if the OT do them in the forum, where it is simpler to debate on the subject .. and we do not fill the post with comments that do not have to do with the subject of the same .. 🙁

As for the logo, the new one is good for its minimalism .. ..but it seems that the fox is missing hair .. xP

  2.   eliotime3000 said

It is a nice version of the official logo, but the current logo (from 2009 to the present it has had its best version and I do not understand what the hell they are doing when using the Firefox 2.0 logo when putting the user agent in the comments ).

However, Iceweasel's loo deserves a version for low-resolution monitors as well.

    1.    elav said

It just seems to be the logo that was with the plugin at the time. When I get the svg with the new logo, I update for the one using Firefox 23 onwards.

      1.    eliotime3000 said

Still, the Firefox logo is pretty neutral. Also, I have browsed the wikipedias of various languages and apparently the only one that had used the current Firefox logo in SVG was the French one. Anyway, I have seen a link that has the English Wikipedia that links to the website of the author of the current logo who has already published the logo in SVG of current Firefox.

So far, I'm still waiting for Iceweasel to make a low-res version of their logo, as the logo on the taskbar is pretty blurry (let's see if I take some time to adapt the Iceweasel logo to make it look good on the taskbar).

And detailing more about the logo that is currently used in Mozilla Firefox: http://blog.mozilla.org/faaborg/2009/06/18/the-new-firefox-icon/

Hope it can be vectorized with Inkscape.

It looks very flat, I definitely prefer the current one.

    1.    sieg84 said

      flat is the new black

      1.    eliotime3000 said

Also, if you are short-sighted, you can easily distinguish it.

      2.    Miguel said

minimalism is the new fashion, see how long it lasts

  4.   jackassbq said

It is a logo in the elementary style. I liked.

  5.   VulkHead said

I love it! Very minimalist, similar to elementary ..

  6.   Jesus Ballesteros said

Very interesting but I use the faenza icons 😛

  7.   waKeMaTTa said

If you look at the 2013+ logo it is the same as that of 2009-2012 but in a minimalist way

    1.    eliotime3000 said

They left it to such a degree that it looks like it was made by the creators of iOS 7. But it's great, it is.

  8.   rainbow_fly said

I like it, I love that cleaner coloring, it looks great with my Nitrux icon theme 🙂

    1.    eliotime3000 said

I get the impression that it was designed for iOS 7, although for someone who has vision problems, that new logo likes it, since now it is completely unmistakable.

  9.   mcbanana said

I already uploaded it to wikipedia in Spanish
    http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mozilla_Firefox
(along with a screenshot on Debian).

    1.    eliotime3000 said

What I need is to put the current Iceweasel in the current Wikipedia article, in addition to translating into Spanish the article in English that talks about the rebranding of all Mozilla products by the Debian project.

    2.    Anonymous said

I imagine people who read the description of the image will ask "and what is Debian gnusequé?"

      1.    eliotime3000 said

Tell him that this is the distro on which Ubuntu was based and that it is the one that can be installed even on cell phones and you will see how curiosity will be born in a jiffy.

  10.   elendilnarsil said

It looks great, but it is also a reflection of fashion design when it comes to software: pure minimalism.

  11.   pandev92 said

More osx style .., but hey, it doesn't matter XD.

    1.    eliotime3000 said

      Rather, iOS 7.

Is the prettiest one from 2004 or does it seem that way to me?

    1.    eliotime3000 said

I don't know, but I like the current logo more than the 2004 logo (the planet earth looks like a crystal ball and the fox looks like it was made of fire).

  13.   Miguel said

I see it fome, when I see it closely, it does not look like a fox-

(and don't tell me it's a red panda, because it doesn't have that tail)

    1.    eliotime3000 said

[sarcasm] The thing is that that tail belongs to the red panda, only these bastards set it on fire and from there it clung to a globe made of ice to put out the fire that the savage string put on its tail [/ sarcasm].

    2.    just-another-dl-user said

I support you, I also think that it is not a red panda (that has already been discussed a lot).
for you to believe me, see this page:

      http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/partners/

They are going to see that the cartoon that appears there is nothing more and nothing less than a Fox.

      1.    eliotime3000 said

Unless you have taken the trouble to read the English Wikipedia about the origin of the name >> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Firefox#Branding_and_visual_identity << although it was chosen to put the fox around the planet earth so that it was not a distraction element when working.

From what I read all the time I looked or wayland but the funny thing always depends on X, nothing new the two are doing, I thought they were going to make what is currently used obsolete and not make a combination, we are going wrong, there must be a third option.

    1.    eliotime3000 said

      Which? ASCII-style TTY?

  15.   Fungus said

I see it a bit flat but I like it is a bit more minimalist I like that, although the previous version was not bad either

  16.   st0rmt4il said

The new logo looks pretty good!

    1.    eliotime3000 said

Although until now I do not see that the Iceweasel logo receives any change, since unfortunately it is with the same logo and surely there will be one or another who complains (in my opinion, the Iceweasel logo is much more striking than the Firefox one, but it gives you a sense of encouragement that the Firefox logo doesn't convey to me).

  17.   VaryHeavy said

Damn, what a mania with making icons increasingly flat. Well, what do you want me to say, to me putting flatter colors, removing details, dulling it, especially when the current one is not at all overloaded, it does not seem like any progress. It is not the tremendous shit (this always according to my humble opinion) that the Chrome / Chromium did changing a magnificent icon for a flat one that would play well with those of Windows 95, but it is seen that Mozilla's move goes along the same line .

I shit on the bloody fashions!

    1.    eliotime3000 said

Well, I like the logo that appeared in Mozilla Firefox 3.5, and the truth is that this icon and the rest of the icons that follow the flat design are really made for people who have a poor vision or something like that. In any case, I prefer the previous logo for its quality of details and a realism made with gradients and well-made vectors.

      1.    VaryHeavy said

        Totally agree.

  18.   juancuyo said

The truth is I do not care, they change the logo everything that comes to mind, I will change to Mozilla the day it stops working as Mozilla. The logo doesn't even exist on my desktop.
