A new version of CrunchBang 10 "Statler" is available for download. For those of you who don't know, CrunchBang is a distribution rolling release based on Debian offering a blend of speed, style and practicality. |
Here is a brief description of the changes:
- Xfce-based version removed. From now on, all efforts will be focused on Openbox.
- GDM was replaced by SLiM. This is a natural transition considering GDM is very heavy, especially for a light distro like CrunchBang.
- Plymouth was removed. The truth is that the little logo flashing at the beginning does not add much, it only gives a visual touch to the start.
- open box 3.5
- Iceweasel / Firefox 8 replaces Chromium 9
- Geany replaces gedit
- Linux kernel 2.6.39
- LibreOffice replaces OpenOffice.org
The name is telling me something else
I didn't even know her
I did not know it, but it seems interesting, I will have to try it.
I had tested it a couple of years ago when it was still based on Ubuntu and it was a cannon in terms of performance. I will have to try this to see how it goes
Successful to rely entirely on Openbox, as well as the change to LibreOffice ... I do not see so successful the fact of replacing Chromium ...
I tried it a long time ago, and it was going quite well ... maybe in the future I will try it again [for now, I'll stick with Lubuntu :)]
Thanks for clarifying it 🙂
Crunchban is Rolling Release?!? Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think so, as it is based on Debian Stable.
Either way it's a great distribution, 100% recommended. My favorite after Arch 😉
If I'm not mistaken, it is based on Debian Testing.
Cheers! Paul.
I am testing it now and it is much better ... ... highly recommended to launch into linux ... the post installation scripts are luxurious ...
