I've been reading wonders of opensuse these days on the net, I think I'm going to give it a space on my disk. I hope it doesn't disappoint, although I don't get along with rpm packages, but we'll see.
tomorrow after burning my head giving the end of analysis 2 I'm going to install opensuse 😀 (capable of having a nap in between :-P)

I have installed it on my laptop to give my desktop a change of scenery, after almost a year using GNOME between Ubuntu and Linux Mint, and the truth is that I am delighted. Fast, efficient, robust and effective. The YaST (and Zypper) installer is better than ever, and adding repositories has never been easier.

The only downside is the KPackageKit applet, which is temporarily used as an updater, and this mission, updating, does well, but it has a bug when installing individual RPM packages, and that is that it installs the RPM package that you have requested, but at the same time it re-installs all those packages that you had manually removed from the initial installation. It is as if KPackageKit had a database with all the packages from the initial installation and took advantage when you tried to install a loose RPM to restore those that had been removed.

But hey, the «Add / Remove programs» of YaST works very well, and to install individual RPMs downloaded from anywhere other than the repositories (for example, the Flash plugin from Adobe, or VirtualBox from Oracle ...) just run as console root: rpm -i RPM_package

In short, OUTSTANDING for OpenSUSE and its KDE integration! 😀
