OSGeoLive: a distribution for geolocation jobs

OSGeoLive

When you work with locations, geolocation or geospatial, you will probably need a number of tools gathered in your operating system. Well, a group of developers have made it easier for you now. As with other specialized distros, such as Kali Linux, Parrot, DEFT, Santoku, CAIN, etc., there is also a distro that works in Live mode for this type of geo tasks. Its name is OSGeoLive, and it is based on Lubuntu.

As I have commented, being Live, you can burn it to a DVD to boot it without having to install it, or if your computer doesn't have an optical drive, you can do it on a bootable USB stick. You can even directly use the ISO image that you can download from its official website, and start it from a virtual machine with the help of VMWare, VirtualBo, etc. Once you have it ready in the chosen medium, you will see that OSGeoLive stands out for its slightly retro appearance of its interface, but don't be fooled, it hides interesting surprises.

OSGeoLive comes loaded with multitude of utilities for the jobs for which it has been specially designed, such as its GIS (Geographic Information System) tools. For example, you can find GRASS GIS (Geographic Resources Analysis Support System GIS), which is a powerful suite of tools for managing data, analyzing, image processing, map production, spatial modeling, visualization, etc. On the other hand, it also includes other important ones such as the gvSIG Desktop, or OpenJUMP GIS, which is similar to the previous one but based on Java. You also have the SAGA GIS spatial editor, or uDig, etc.

But the number of specialty packages doesn't end with those. You'll find much more, such as databases, web browsers, and many other auxiliary tools that will help you with your work. Some examples in this case are pgAdmin III, Rasdaman, SHP2pgsql, etc. And the web browser has a menu with a good collection of tools specialized in the geospatial theme, such as: GeoNode, Cesium, GeoExt, GeoMoose 3, Leaflet, Mapbender, OpenLayers, Geomajas. This way or you will have to download them one by one on your own, you will have everything ready to work ...

Hello friend. Is there a Linux distribution dedicated to writing, text design, publishing, encryption, etc., as a very advanced typewriter?
    Thank you!
