It has been known for a long time that to play in Linux you must install many things to run Windows games, Wine, Playonlinux, drivers, etc. A lot of laps, which apart do not always work.
That is why on behalf of Numix y Nitrox They had the initiative to work on a Linux distribution called OzonOS that will allow, in addition to a beautiful interface (to be expected from Numix), the possibility of playing easily and quickly, which is currently in beta. According to them, they hope to work with companies to port videogames and engines, something that would benefit Linux players.
Features:
- Based on Fedora 21
- Only available in 64 Bit
- Atom Desktop Environment (GNOME Themes and Extensions Set)
- It comes by default installed: Applications related to Gnome, Nautilus, Chromium, gThumbs, Tomahawk, Gedit, File Roller, Fedy, Steam
In my opinion it will be a good distribution that will attract users but at the moment they are not working on an alternative to Steam and neither on a tool to install Windows games / engines but I look forward to it. I am also working with GTK and Vala to do the same, as a small project that I will publish on my blog.
Not bad, personally, I like Fedora, so I look good at anything that comes out of it. I still do not see how they are going to improve the landscape of games with Ozon OS, the video only shows the desktop, but does not explain anything.
I said the same at the end of the entry, they do not improve anything for the moment but they promise, even so it was a presentation to prove that it is going.
Hopefully it will be fruitful although I think the only ones that can bring games to linux and improve in that regard is steamOS
After SteamOs and Zorin someone pays attention to the gamers of the little penguin, I would prefer that it be based on debian but there is no problem with fedora, downloading; 3
another distro? ... pff more fragmentation ... how stupid
I agree with you 100%
I also think that with steam any Linux OS can become a console and you don't need an exclusive system for games.
Another for the menu, lol
I hope you keep us informed of the progress of this project .. It sounds! Excellent !!!
GREETINGS !!
If I still have to learn more about value, but I hope to contribute something to the community.
The link to Nitrux is bad, otherwise good post.
A greeting!
They cannot be edited once published 😛
I knew of 2 similar distros: one was a version of LinEX with several games that I acquired with a book that included the list of games and how to play them. The other one I don't remember its name and it came with wine and a script to select the graphics card, but I don't remember the name.
These types of distros can come in handy for newbies or those who want to just dedicate themselves to that.
with this post I finished reading the entire web (which interested me) congratulations because I have learned a lot and it makes me want to continue learning with you
Very good, lucky that it has been useful to you. DesdeLinuxIf you know something, don't hesitate to share it.
Icons, as they are called.
I think it will be as popular as elementaryos, but with a totally different approach that will allow it to compete with ubuntu ...
I think I will try it without much doubt, although lately fedora has disappointed a lot, it is like the ubuntu [with or without lt] from a few years ago, unstable from any point of view.
downloaded, installed, tested and discarded ... it doesn't look bad but it's very green, it seems to me a fedora even more unstable than it is, with a nice theme, and nothing else
