You probably already know PlayOnLinux, an application that allows you to install software Windows en Linux. If you already use it, it is possible that you have ever encountered this problem: you run the installer of the program you want, follow all the steps and apparently the program installs correctly, but the wizard PlayOnLinux displays a message stating "Please wait…", which never disappears and the installation never ends:
The solution to this problem is quite simple: close the program you installed. Only until it's closed is when PlayOnLinux it will detect that the installation has finished, and then it will generate the necessary shortcuts and make that window disappear.
However, if despite closing the program you see that the message still does not disappear, it may be due to two reasons:
- Many programs don't actually close when you close the window, they just minimize to the system tray. Verify that it is really closed and not just minimized.
- If the program is already closed, it is possible that you still have a process running. Use your distribution's system monitor to search for any active process related to the program and terminate it.
Once the program is completely closed you can finish the installation correctly.
I'd better start installing Steam on Slackware rather than suffer from this mess.

Burn! XD
Now light a fire for the fireplace, because here in Lima the cold is relentless.
To save myself this can, I prefer to use pure free software and learning on the fly to use them I have no choice. I don't want anything with the window system ...
Sometimes you don't have a choice. I, for example, use PlayOnLinux almost only for Evernote. Evernote doesn't have a Linux version, there are no such comprehensive alternatives, and community-made clients like NixNote and Everpad don't even come close to the official client. In conclusion, I install it with PlayOnLinux and happy with life. 🙂
You forget about Google Drive, since it is the one that stores your copypastes that you make in Chromium / Chrome.
No, I keep those in Evernote too. : trollface:
[YaoMing] Better use GIT. [/ YaoMing]
To not be a life and death option, I prefer not to know anything about the next, next system and all the crap that goes with it, including viruses etc. etc. etc.
There is a lot of anti-Windows fanaticism from what I see. As if just by using a Windows program (not even the complete Windows, only a program in Linux) viruses automatically enter and stuff. Anyway, with good reason Linux users have us pigeonholed in that way.
And that it is increasingly difficult to have a virus in windows, if you know how to use the pc ... at least I have not seen anything in the last 3 years, what I have seen are boot errors and having to reinstall everything the system because of a blackout xD
I'm glad to see that you're making progress. xDD
If it occurs to you to use Windows for daily use, obviously the boot sector will go to hell. Therefore, I use my GNU / Linux more than Windows to prevent my Windows partition from blowing its MBR in a blackout case.
You must be kidding, it is getting easier and easier, web pages that try to sneak Trojans, viruses, infected apps ... If you have an antivirus, you realize the danger you run every day. If you knew how easy it is to hide a virus behind an application, you would tremble ...
Yes, it is true that there are false positives, but there are few cases, my antivirus (when I had Windows installed), every so often while browsing (especially if I wanted to watch a movie online), showed you an alert for the advertising they put on it, which more than advertising they are Trojans and bots to spy on you).
Hard? If you really say that, you are not using Windows ...
Thanks a lot! I did not know what to do and until I have killed the processes the installation has not finished 🙂
You're welcome, I'm glad it served you. 🙂
Almost two hours waiting for that screen to advance uselessly xD
Thank you! You are big
«The solution to this problem is quite simple: close the program you installed. »
You can do this if the program does not hang during the installation attempt (there are many that hang) and when trying to close the installer, Wine also closes because it has blocked it.
When Wine really works, and you can install native Windows programs without having to spend months studying space engineering to make a notepad work for you, maybe I'll use it again, while a MV and throw miles.
I don't know about you, but about me, the idea of complicating my life by having simpler alternatives, well, of course ...
Be careful, I'm talking about Wine, I have nothing against whoever wants to use Windows, I use Linux because for me, it is the OS that best suits my needs, as it is better for others to use Windows or iOS, and it is very respectable.
Of course, I cannot say anything good about Wine, I have installed a program with PlayOnLinux, zero errors ... And the program does not appear anywhere ... That is Wine, I have installed an MV, with VirtualBox, I install an XP, the program appears, It works, it is luxurious, zero problems… Wine? For its creators ...
