Released Blender 2.65

On December 10, the Blender Foundation and the developer community released Blender 2.65. This time they focused on doing the more stable version of the 2.6x cycle. They have been fixed around 200 bugs.

Was added Fire Simulation along with many improvements to the smoke simulation. To the cycles render it was added motion blur and anisotropic shading. On the other hand, the Decimate modifier received modifications. For mesh modeling, the chamfering has been greatly improved. Among the new additions there is a symmetrization tool mesh, another type of smoothing called Laplacian and the Triangular modifier.

Fire and Smoke:

Now it has fire simulation. The options towards the domain object received big updates for improve performance and usability. Unlike previous versions, the smoke can be emitted from mesh surfaces without the need for a particle system. In order to improve the interaction with other simulations, a force field for smoke flow. The possibility of create simulation of colored smoke as well as mixing options. Besides, the interaction of smoke with collision objects has been improved.

Cycle Render:

In this sense, support has been given to write custom shaders in the Open Shading Language. Was added on Motion Blur rendering or motion blur, to make moving objects look blurry. There's also a anisotropic hatch node, and the BSDF nodes can now have different normals, which can be set using the new node for bumps and normal mapping.

Mesh modeling:

The tool now includes rounded bezel, preserving the requested bevel width more evenly and generate better topology as well as a tool to create symmetry in the mesh topology.

Modifiers:

El Decimator modifier was rewritten and now preserves UV data and vertex colors; has an option for avoid subdivision and a way of dissolve vertices to create n-gons planes. Arises a new Laplacian smoothing modifier to reduce noise or smooth the mesh while preserving the edges and volume of the object. The Triangulate modifier, which can be useful for creating game assets by baking normal maps.

One of my daily use programs, it really has an impressive development.

It is very good yes. I usually use version 2.49b.
Too bad the new versions are horrible, full of buttons everywhere. And practically impossible to use on small screens.

It shows that you know the terminologies 😉
What are the rendering of fire, smoke and water consume a lot of processor, so you have to test that of the improvements in the smoke that this version brings.
