Released Rekonq 0.8, Qt-based web browser

El 16 de Octubre the new version of rekonq, a web browser written in Qt.Use the motor QtWebKit 2.2.0, which translates into an increase in performance over previous versions.


This version brings many improvements such as:

  • AdBlock: System to block advertising
  • Modifications in the address bar
  • Tab History included in the function «Restore tabs«
  • Modifications in the interface
  • Now when closing the last tab we can close the entire window
  • KParts to avoid double downloading the source code of a web page
  • Click mechanism to manage favorites
  • Function «Not to follow«, Is something like the private browsing that is in Firefox
  • Function that tells us the date of the first time a website has been visited
  • KMessageWidget for tab messages
  • Drag and drop: Allows us to drag files to and from the browser
  • Ctrl + Number to use keyboard shortcuts.

Installation

Those using Ubuntu, Mint or ElementaryOS can install it by adding the following PPA repository:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa: https: //launchpad.net/~yoann-laissus/+archive/rekonq-ppa sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get upgrade

Debian Testing users will have to wait for it to go through Unstable, Experimental and finally Testing although it is possible to use the PPA repository that I comment above

Arch users have it in the repositories and can install from Pacman.
