Station: a workstation in the style of Franz, Rambox or WebCatalog

Station

Si are from those users who like to use many web services like Skype, WhatsApp, Twitch, Facebppk, among others etc, they can install Station on Linux and use several applications in the same place.

Station is a free and multiplatform application, which can be used on Windows, Mac and Linux with which we can use more than 500 applications, this is an application store in the style of Franz, Rambox or WebCatalog.

Station focuses and unifies all web applications in a clean and productive interface for the user and that they do not have the need to have the different web services separately.

Station It has a smart base with which you can organize the workflow along with the unified search function, which will be very useful for the user and find anything quickly.

It is an application that will help you manage all our web applications in one place. The latest version of Station adds support for more than 60 new applications compared to its previous version.

Among the new features are the Twitch, Android Messages, Fiverr, Duolingo, the StackOverflow, Yammer, and many others.

There are so many, that the list already reaches more than 500 applications today. That's double what they had in the beginning.

Station and applications of the same category, basically package all the web applications that users normally open in the browser.

Then Station shows them integrated in a single window within its interface. Depending on your need, this can be much more convenient than using the browser.

With this type of application, we can forget to open dozens of tabs in the web browser, which are becoming smaller and smaller and above all, they consume a large amount of resources.

In addition, the applications that Station runs run faster than the browser, as it is not supposed to consume as many resources.

Lastly, there are keyboard shortcuts available to switch between apps, along with built-in notifications. And all this in a colorful and easy-to-use interface.

How to install Station on the different Linux distributions?

For those who are interested in being able to install this application or be able to test it on their systems, we can do it in a universal way in the different Linux distributions.

The only requirement is that your distribution can run applications of the AppImage type, although generally almost all current distributions (and with a graphical environment) run this type of application.

Now we must go to the application website where we can obtain the AppImage file in your download section.

Once the file has been downloaded in our system, we are now going to proceed to open a terminal and we must position ourselves in the directory where we save the file and in it we are going to execute the following command:

sudo chmod x+a station.appimage

With this, we gave the file execution permissions, once this is done we can now run the application on our system.

We can do it by double clicking on the file and it will be executed or from the terminal we can execute it with:

./station.appimage

When you start the file for the first time, you will be asked if you want to integrate the program with the system.

They must click "Yes" if they wish to integrate it or click "No" if they do not wish.

If you select Yes, the program launcher will be added to the application menu and installation icons. If you choose "No", you will always have to start it by double-clicking the AppImage.

Once the application is open, they will be asked to log in with a Gmail account. Immediately afterwards the application will show us a small list of applications that will be the ones that will be shown in the application interface.

After loading the first applications, it will show us a small tutorial. With it we can see the keyboard shortcuts that we will have the possibility to use to move between the applications that we have.

Among its direct competition (the best are Wavebox and Rambox, both paid with limitations in free status) it is definitely the best option. It has the peculiarity that it not only offers its complete services for free (jmmm free on the internet ?? an application of this type? Where is the ball…), but it is also much more efficient in resources and consumes less CPU / APU than the others. That is a decisive plus in this family of Electron-type applications that are not very friendly with our GNU / Linux processors and adding that it must be kept permanently in the background to take advantage of its functions.
