Many people do not get used to the changed buttons. Yes, famous close-minimize-maximize, that in Ubuntu are on the left side, and that traditionally appear from the right side. Here is a mini tutorial to learn how to restore your original position.
The first thing we have to do is run the following application in a terminal:
gconf-editor
The Gnome configuration manager will appear and there we must look for the following path:
/ apps / metacity / general / button_layout
We double click on the following chain,
button_layout
and we replace what is written by this other:
: minimize, maximize, close
According to the order they write minimize-close-maximize, the buttons will be located in the same order. Regarding the two points :, are to define which side the buttons come out on. Taking into account that they are always placed on the opposite side of the side where we want them to come out.
It is also possible to configure the order and position of these buttons using Ubuntu Tweak. Once opened, you have to access the option Window Manager Configuration.
Great, it was what I was looking for, thanks ..
I also use another method, in my opinion, more comfortable, faster, easier and less dangerous (by not tequetear gconf-editor, I mean). I posted it on my blog, for whoever is interested.
For what?
It seems easier to me what the guy who has worked on the blog says what you put on your blog ... in a milliseg I already have my buttons where I wanted ... thanks Raul for the post, your blog is already in my favorites :) !
I use another method which is apparently to select a theme that has them on the right, and then put the colored buttons and everything of the ambiance theme and I save it as ambiance2 and everything appears on the right and I don't know what they look like this method
First, congratulations on the first post, this information is always useful and necessary to have it at hand (because we don't always have the internet available; D). I think the explained way is the simplest to switch the side buttons.
Something that I love about GNU / Linux (now that we talk about gnome) is that there is always more than one way to peel an onion: Rafaelzx already gave a good tip and that it works a lot if (like me) we like a gnome panel transparent, I am changing everything except the controls in themes that do not allow larger panels or the same transparencies.
If we use Ubuntu the simplest way is with Ubuntu tweak or if emerald is used, just edit the theme in the so-called "title bar". And is that I use Ubuntu or not, I always put the buttons on the left side: p tricks that stick.
Again congratulations on the entry.
Interesting post, but when reading it, a question arose: can you put those buttons on both sides (on the right and also on the left? Happy New Year and thank you for your contributions.
Congratulations on the blog.
Just an annotation to the subject, according to Shuttleworth's own words, the space that is now empty on the right is intended for future Windicators (look for more information on the internet), so it does not recommend the use of this "trick" through gconf -editor for being able to cause problems once the change is applied. The most correct according to him would be to go to the configuration menu-> appearance and change to a theme that has the icons on the left -simply.
A greeting.
Mmm I do not think so. 🙁
Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Pana you are a genius 🙂
