The new version of Fedora 32 has already been released, know its news

f32-end

The release of the new version of Fedora 32 has just been announced which promises to be a version in which memory management, processes and especially system performance are improved in broad terms. This new version of Fedora 32 arrives a week late, but complying with the date established by the developers after the announcement of the delay due to problems caused by errors.

Fedora 32 It is now available to download in its versions of Desktop, Server, CoreOS, as well as the famous "spin" with KDE Plasma 5, Xfce, MATE, Cinnamon, LXDE and LXQt. Builds for x86_64, Power64, ARM64 (AArch64) architectures, and various devices with 32-bit ARM processors are also offered.

Without further ado, this is what this new version of Fedora 32 presents to us

Fedora 32 Key New Features

Uno of the main changes of this new version is the introduction of the 'earlyoom' background process (of which we have already spoken on more than one occasion here on the blog) that allows you to respond more quickly to a lack of memory without reaching the call to the OOM handler in the kernel, which fires when the situation becomes critical.

Also also the introduction of "fstrim.timer" stands out (a systemd timer) that starts the fstrim.service service once a week to transmit information about unused blocks in file systems mounted to LVM repositories and storage devices dynamically expandable. This mechanism smooths wear and tear on SSD and NVMe drives and increases the efficiency of block cleaning, and also in LVM it improves the use of free logical extents by dynamically allocating storage space.

On the appearance side, we can find that the new version of GNOME 3.36 is introduced, in which a separate application for managing plugins for GNOME Shell has appeared, se modernized the design of the login and screen unlock interfaces, most of the system dialogs have been redesigned, the function of launching applications using a discrete GPU on systems with hybrid graphics.

In overview mode, the ability to rename directories with applications is implemented, the 'do not disturb' button is added to the notification system, the enable option is added to the initial setup wizard Parental control systems, and so on.

By default, the package iptables-nft is used instead of iptables-legacy as it offers a set of utilities to ensure compatibility with iptables that have the same command line syntax but translate the resulting rules into the nf_tables bytecode.

In relation to the Fedora Python 2 End of Life python2 package and all packages that require Python 2 to function or mount will be removed. For developers and users who need Python 2, a separate python27 package will be provided which will be designed in an all-in-one style (not splitting into sub-packages) and is not intended to be used as a dependency.

The Python interpreter is compiled with the "-fno-semantic-interposition" flag, the use of which in testing showed a performance increase of 5 to 27%.

In packages that define their own users and groups, transitioned to user definitions in identical format to sysusers.d. Code has been added to the DNF package manager to send the necessary information for a more accurate assessment of the distribution's user base.

Instead of the originally planned transfer of a unique UUID, a simpler scheme based on the installation time counter and a variable with data about the architecture and version of the operating system is implemented.

As well “free” and “non-free” repositories were released from the RPM Fusion project for Fedora 32, in which packages with additional multimedia applications (MPlayer, VLC, Xine), video / audio codecs, DVD support and proprietary AMD and NVIDIA game controllers, programs, emulators are available.
