Version 2.1 of the Elementary GTK theme is now available for download. What's new? Yes, GTK3 support was included, the Aurora engine was discontinued, the panel now defaults to a dark color, Elementary is now also available for Xfwm4, various bug fixes, etc. Interested? Installation
As usual, to install it, just add the corresponding PPA:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa: elementaryart / elementarydesktop sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install elementary-theme
For other versions of Ubuntu, you can directly download the DEB package.
It is also recommended download the icons that are complemented by this theme (Elementary Icon Theme 2.5). Unfortunately, it is not available in the official PPA, although I seem to remember that it is available in some lost PPA (did I see it in Ubuntu Tweak?).
In case you don't like the new dark colored panel, you can revert the changes to the old and never well-weighted gray panel:
Press ALT + F2 and enter:
gksu gedit /usr/share/themes/elementary/gtk-2.0/gtkrc
At the end of the file replace:
include "Apps / panel-dark.rc"
by
include "Apps / panel.rc"

No, it's plank that uses the catch
If you use Arch, both the theme and the icons are in AUR.
They can install them with a simple:
yaourt -S elementary-gtk-theme elementary-icons

Nope, if you read more about the matter you will see that the dock is plank based on docky but written in vala and the panel is wingpanel only modified for the next version that will be released from elementary.

There is no reason, if you are interested I will tell you that this has to do with an independent interface of gnome 3 and unity called phanteon. With which elementaryos in the not too distant future intends to unseat or at least equalize the shells mentioned above.
