The source code and videos of GTA VI have been leaked on the web

GTA-6 Hacked

The hacker has not shared details of how he gained access to the GTA 6 videos and source code, apart from claiming to have stolen them from the Slack and Confluence Rockstar servers.

Recently leaked videos on GTAForums (over the weekend), where a hacker named “teapotuberhacker” shared a link to a RAR file containing 90 stolen videos related to GTA 6.

the videoss appear to have been created by developers which refined various game features such as camera angles, NPC tracking, and locations in Vice City. Additionally, some of the videos contain voice conversations between the protagonist and other NPCs.

The responsible person to filter these videos he said he wanted to "negotiate a deal" with Rockstar. He also stated that he was in possession of the source code for GTA 5 and GTA 6, and that the source code for GTA 6 was "no longer for sale at this time", unlike GTA 5 and confidential documents related to GTA 6.

GTA 6 is currently one of the most anticipated games of the moment. And the leak of 90 videos allegedly linked to a test version of the game still in development set the web on fire on Sunday, September 18. One would have thought that the story would boil down to this simple release of internal videos, but the person behind the leak seems to want to go further.

The hacker claims to have stolen "the source code and assets of GTA 5 and 6, the test version of GTA 6", but attempts to blackmail Rockstar Games into preventing the release of new data. The hacker claims that he is accepting offers of over $10,000 for GTA V source code and assets, but is not currently selling GTA 6 source code.

After forum members voiced their disbelief that the hack was real, the hacker claimed he was behind the recent attack on Uber and leaked screenshots of Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto 6 source code as further proof.

Rockstar Games has not released a statement about the attack. right now. However, Jason Schreier of Bloomberg confirmed that the leak was valid after speaking with Rockstar sources:

Not that there's much doubt, but Rockstar sources have confirmed that this weekend's massive Grand Theft Auto VI leak is very real. The images are early and unfinished, of course. This is one of the biggest leaks in gaming history and a nightmare for Rockstar Games.

Since then, leaked videos have appeared on YouTube and Twitter, with Rockstar Games issuing DMCA infringement notices and takedown requests to take the videos offline:

"This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim. 'Author of Take 2 Interactive,' reads a copyright claim by Take 2 Interactive, the owner of Rockstar Games. These takedown requests reinforce the validity that the leaked GTA 6 videos are real.

However, Rockstar Game's efforts come too late, as the hacker and others had already started leaking the stolen GTA 6 videos and parts of the source code on Telegram. For example, the hacker leaked a 6-line GTA 9.500 source code file that appears to be related to running scripts for various actions in the game.

The source code of GTA 5 had already found a buyer for the sum of 100.000 dollars paid with just over 5 Bitcoins. But the leaker confirmed that it was not his address and that therefore someone had been scammed out of $100,000 thinking of buying the GTA 5 source code. However, this shows the sums that some are willing to spend for this type of data.

However, if the GTA 5 source code sale were to come to an end, it would be a huge failing for Rockstar, who are now at risk of people finding flaws in GTA Online and then exploiting them online and possibly cheating.

The fact that the GTA 6 source code is no longer for sale tends to show that the leaker now wants to monetize his find directly with Rockstar. It remains to be seen whether the company will accede to his request or whether it will instead choose to go after him by all means.
