The Unarchiver in Debian, or what is the same, forget about unrar

The Unarchiver is a file extraction tool that supports a wide variety of compression formats, and of course, the .rar is included.

What is the difference with unrar? What The Unarchiver does all its function completely and completely free. Its use is very simple, it only needs two commands:

  • laser    List the contents of a file. Example: lsar .rar
  • unar    Extract the contents of a file. Example: join .rar

For now it is only available in the repositories of debian-sid. If you use it, you can install it with the command:

$ sudo aptitude install theunarchiver

I read this here.

      I guess, although I also imagine that it integrates with File-Roller or Xarchiver ..
