Ubuntu 12.04 will be called ...

Already so original Mark Shuttleworth announced the name for the next LTS, Ubuntu 12.04. And yes, "original", Mark is quite an original guy, because the truth is that to come up with such names for Ubuntu, you have to be from original, to going through geek and freaky reaching nerd LOL !!!.

Anyway, this next Ubuntu Will be called: "Ubuntu Precise Pangolin»(Means Precise Pangolin)

Funny the name right? LOL!!!!

Now it is complete, because before we had announced the schedule or development cycle for this 12.04, and we only needed the name, which we have just discovered 🙂

Many of us wonder, well ... what the hell is a Pangolin?

What I understand is that it is an animal with hard scales (in the images you can see it without difficulty), relatively small and I do not know for you but it seems extremely strange to me, I had never heard of it. At first glance it looks like a porcupine, but with scales, and this is what most attracts their attention ... they seem to be wearing a chain mail coat HAHA. If you want to know more about this animal, you can read this link:

Reading comments, it would have been funny if the name of this 12.04 was: Pink Panther no? LOL!!! although, other animals like «Penguin»They would have been funnier, but maybe not as freaky as Mark has us used to HAHA.

regards

There is also a Laptop with Ubuntu pre-installed that bears the same name:

What a good ad campaign means for that company too 😀

Damn, well, not knowing what a pangolin is ...

And yes, the name is very original, put animal names to their versions like Mac O $ X hahahahahahahahahahaha

I suppose that nobody thinks that it is original to put the name of an animal to a product, but based on the fact that the product will bear the name of an animal, what would this be?

      Greetings.

Precisely the names for Ubuntu are taken from rare animals or animals that may be in danger of extinction. First time I see something about Pangolin that ...

I did not know that species either and just when I saw its image for the first time, it reminded me of armadillos. However, after searching a bit, I found out that they belong to a different taxonomic order (although years ago, it is said that they were erroneously classified to a homologous order).

On the other hand, before the ubuntu 10.10 name was announced I thought that "lynx" would be very tempting because of its phonology so close to "linux" and I hit it; and now he thought that "penguin" was very likely, but it was not the case.

And, one last thing, I was not informed of what Elav is saying about the endangered status for the choice of names.

    Greetings.

You've gotten confused with the 10.04 Lucid Lynx.

And yes, Ubuntu names have always been endangered animals

You're right lynx corresponds to 10.04

        Thanks for the clarification

At least you've had the luck / happiness / knowledge of hitting one of them, I tried to guess the fucking animal years ago and HAHAHA… I never manage to hit it HAHAHA.

"Penguin", nah I don't think ... it was something too obvious, Mark always puts animals that nobody imagines, and a Linux distro named "Pinguino" was something too obvious ^ _ ^

Greetings and thanks for your comments 😉

But even if you haven't hit any of them yet, won't you keep trying in the future? heh

And so, thanks to you who have taken the time and dedication to make a quality blog, which little by little begins to stand out from many others.

        Greetings.
