On the last day of the Ubuntu Developer Summit (Ubuntu Developers Summit), which took place in Oakland, USA, Ubuntu developers talked about the launch of a derived distro de Ubuntu with GNOME-Shell by default, it would join Kubuntu, Lubuntu, Xubuntu, etc.
Yes, Ubuntu without Unity. |
However, if an Ubuntu GNOME Remix distro is developed, it will probably have the default GNOME Shell interface, and not the good old classic GNOME that everyone wants.
This Ubuntu GNOME "flavor" would come with applications like Abiword and Gnumeric instead of LibreOffice, GNOME Boxes, the Adwaita theme, and probably support for the classic GNOME interface.
The distribution is only a draft at the moment, and the developers have not given it a name yet. Possible names could be GNOME OS, GNObuntu, Ubuntu GNOME, UbuGNOME, or GNOME Ubuntu, according to a post in the Michael Larabel website.
Gubuntu would be without a doubt, being consistent with the current nomenclature. Ubuntu Classic no ... because it should be Gnome 2
Unity is already based on Gnome-Shell
Sure, but it is one thing that it exists and another that it acquires an "official" character. Cheers! Paul.
Unity based on Gnome-Shell ... for me it would be the definitive desktop. The power and versatility of the Unity dash and dock together with the Gnome-Shell extensions would make a very complete desktop.
Ubuntu Gnome Remix already exists, based on Ubuntu and with a default GnomeShell interface, but hey, all the initiatives that promote development and diversification I think are good.
Nice news. I personally prefer the Gnome Shell. At first it was somewhat traumatic, like many, but now it seems the best. Very comfortable and functional as well as modern and attractive 🙂
shubuntu
well, my unity I love it
Better because what a ruin of Unity, some problems uffff. Who is riding it well are the Linux Mint 🙂
Better with good old classic GNOME
ubuntu shell
Gubuntu would be the most suitable name XD
Ubuntu Classic would be better haha
