Ubuntu for tablets

Canonical takes a new step with its multi-device platform based on its Ubuntu operating system with the official presentation of Ubuntu for tablets. In this way it seeks unify interfaces of all mobile devices and desktop.

Canonical anticipated the Mobile World Congress (MWC), to be held in Barcelona between February 25 and 28, and presented Ubuntu for tablets.

In this way, the company completes its strategy of the four screens, that is, to have platforms for desktop PCs, TVs, smartphones and, finally, tablets.

The interface of the company's new operating system for tablets is very similar to that of the platform in the rest of the devices, since it can be accommodated to suit the different screens. In this sense, it can support screens between 6 and 20 inches, with resolutions of between 100 and 400 pixels per inch.

Ubuntu allows users to create different accounts within the same computer to run multiple applications at the same time and incorporates voice control. The platform's home screen can be configured according to the taste of the users or telephone operators. Applications, menus, and settings can be accessed from the sides of the screen.

The platform will use the same code in its four versions, whether for smartphones, tablets, desktop PCs and TVs, so using, for example, a smartphone application can be used on the tablet without necessarily having to be modified or adapted.

The million-dollar question is whether we can access repositories and install applications that you cannot on Android. If they give us a purple Android, I'm not interested. What I want is a real Linux on the Nexus 7. Because it is a real pity that with such a processor the only interesting thing I can do is read comics in color

I would like them to port it to the HP Touchpad, although there are already unofficial ports of Android, Arch Linux, Mer and Ubuntu for this good tablet

At first, when they just started talking about this topic, I thought that tablets with Ubuntu incorporated into them would be being sold, but now I understand that the free download of this OS and being able to install it will be allowed, is that so or am I wrong ?

For now it is like that, but that does not mean that in the future some company that develops tablets decides to incorporate Ubuntu and sell tablets with that system.
