The UBports community today launched the OTA-9 from your Ubuntu Touch mobile operating system, an update that adds several improvements and a new design to all supported devices.

Ubuntu Touch OTA-9 arrives two months after OTA-8 with a new design consisting of Suru symbols and updated folder icons and new to provide a better experience, Nexus 5 camera enhancements so that users can record videos again, better detection of the dark theme affecting the overall system, as well as a busy indicator.

This release includes support for the OpenStore API V3 in System Settings, the ability to save images using previously saved compression settings, improvements to message counters, support for searching the web with Lilo, simplified translations for the stack view, and a new "paste and go" option in the browser.

Ubuntu Touch OTA-9 coming to supported devices

Ubuntu Touch OTA-9 is coming to all supported devices, including Fairphone 2, Nexus 5, Nexus 4, OnePlus One, BQ Aquaris M10 FHD, BQ Aquaris M10 HD, Meizu MX 4, Meizu PRO 5, BQ Aquaris E4.5, BQ Aquaris E5 and Nexus 7. Users will be able to install the OTA-9 update in the software updates panel in the system settings.

UBports mentions that Ubuntu Touch OTA-9 update will finish arriving on May 12, 2019. By that time all users will have received the updates on their devices, so be sure to install as soon as possible if you want to experience the best and most stable Ubuntu Phone experience.

    As long as they don't make it compatible with more modern phones, it's going to be difficult.

    In its day I used it in Nexus 4 and Oneplus On but, I have not had those mobiles for years and like me I suppose many people.
