A new version of Unity is available for Ubuntu 12.04 Specify Pangolin, but not in the official repositories but in the PPA of the Unity project.
Besides being a lot lighter, the new Unity incorporates some new features y functionalities. |
With the release of Ubuntu 12.04, Unity 5 will be released along with an integrated tool within Ubuntu itself to configure Unity. This tool will be very similar to Compiz's effects configurator. For now we are working on increasing or decreasing the size of the Unity bar, changing the background color of the Unity bar, modifying the transparency of the Unity bar, etc. This is perhaps one of the most desired changes by many users.
Another important change is in the global menu on the top bar of the desktop. While up to now the global menu of applications was only shown when hovering the mouse pointer over it, now this menu is shown for a time - which we can adjust - as soon as we launch a new application.
Other improvements is the one that affects the background color of the Dash, and we can also add an icon to the launcher to "show the desktop." Unity 2D has also been updated, and the developers have added the maximize and close buttons in Dash.

Quiet friend at some point they must have shitted it also We all have errors personally I use both [Linux Mint and Ubuntu] But you must remember that Mint was based on Ubuntu and Debian Also All Linux is better than windows Just relax and let Ubuntu advance alone Just wait, it's a matter of time. The truth is, I don't like unity much either, but it's better than using microsoft shit
unity has not been well studied, boring to the eye, it is true that it has a better facade than gnome shell but still a beggar.
Unity more cool !!!!
Well, it sounds like a tantrum, I suppose it is very difficult for you, believe me it is not.
Good date!
Great, each time they improve more unity, it is a very practical environment 🙂

It is not a mistake Pablo. Ubuntu 12.04 has been available for a while, just not in its final version.
Those who use the alpha, beta or daily-builds of Ubuntu 12.04 can install Unity 5 as described in the article. A hug! Paul.
