A new version of the Vivaldi web browser has been released and it brings with it many new features and fixes. Vivaldi 2.2 is more customizable than ever.
Vivaldi 2.2 brings many new features among which we highlight a pop-up video player (which works just like Chrome's picture-in-picture feature), as well as introducing new ways to manage tabs and control over taskbar buttons.
There are many browsers that are based on Chromium, but Vivaldi wants to stand out and for that, Jon von Tetzchner, CEO of Vivaldi, mention that this update "focuses on customization in both terms, both functionality and interface."
New features in Vivaldi 2.2
If you watch a lot of videos online, you will love the new picture-in-picture feature, with a click or two you can make the video stay in a window that you can move anywhere on the screen. The feature does not work with Flash or any other type of format except HTML5.
On the other hand, Vivaldi 2.2 now you can play videos on Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and any other stream with DRM. The browser uses Widevine video extensions automatically when required.
The use of tabs has also been improved, Vivaldi 2.2 save groups of tabs as sessions, making it easy to save multiple pages for later review. Sessions can be called in any way and as many windows as possible can be saved.
