VLC 2.0 available!

Version has been released 2.0 de VLC Media Player, the  reproductor multimedia and cross-platform known for playing virtually all formats of audio y video lesson.

VLC 2.0 "Twoflower" brings as main novelties in all its versions a higher decoding speed in different architectures, as well as the ability to work with more high-quality formats. Playback has also been improved with new pipelined rendering, better-quality subtitles, and new filters for videos.

The improvements are really noticeable, although considering that VLC was already a light and effective player in its previous version, it did not have much room for big revolutions in this regard either. As a bonus, it is now also capable of playing BluRay experimentally, something that those who buy these discs (which there are) will appreciate.

Installation

In Ubuntu and derivaods it is a matter of adding the official PPA. I opened a terminal and wrote:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa: n-muench / vlc
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install vlc vlc-plugin-pulse mozilla-plugin-vlc

Arch and derivatives, you just have to update the system since it is already in the official repositories.

Good thing it came out! Stamina VLC.

Although I wanted to use the ppa and nothing happens. I just got to check the vlc page and it says that those who have ubuntu 10.10 recommend upgrading to the OS !! .. they screwed me haha: D.

I have the Mint 10, and it is based on that ubuntu. I don't know if it happened to someone else, or if there is an alternative.
