Let's see, let's see ... Kernel 3.0.28 LTS? so ROSA is «long time support» = O and above all with what interests me: ATI drivers for my dearest one that uses a HD6850 series.

    1.    perseus said

      That's right, it's 5-year LTS ^. ^

I had read about KLook and it looks interesting.

Where does this Rosa come from? Is it based or is it a fork of Mandriva?

    1.    Courage said

I think it's fork, although for you it will continue to be the closest thing to Windows as you said in the other blog of the carcamal calvolandia haha

    2.    perseus said

In fact it is based on mandriva 2011, it is rumored that if mandriva is declared bankrupt, the guys from RosaLabs could take over the continuity of said distribution. We will confirm or deny the news shortly 😉

It's Mandriva 2011 jointly updated by the Rosa team and MIB.

      1.    KZKG ^ Gaara said

MIB O_O… Men in Black? … WTF !! … LOL!!

        1.    mdrvro said

MIB = Mandriva International Backports, KZKG ^ Gaara are you saying it in sarcasm? or not? Well, it would call my attention if you didn't know him… Well I like how the Rosa theme comes, but I like the principles of Mageia more. Just hold on to everything about Mandriva that brought me to this world and that's why my nickname. Better not to talk about soccer hahaha (again hehe)

          1.    KZKG ^ Gaara said

Actually, my friend, I didn't know him, I don't know a lot about Mandriva, even about other distros like Gentoo, because I haven't used them and that's why I haven't spent time to know many of its details 😉
I know let's say the basics of Mandriva, if I use it I don't think I have major problems, but MIB just beat me haha, I didn't know what those acronyms meant

About football haha… I don't know which team you are a fan of, but for now I'll take the best competition in Spain, the league, 😀… LOL !!!

          2.    mdrvro said

Well I'm sorry, well I have always been somewhat against the fans of the unnameable distro haha (but still with respect for them) and I have behaved as such and it does take time to use, configure and know a distro thoroughly.

Also say that I am a Chilean user from the city of Valparaíso and I am a fan of my local Santiago Wanderers team. In the Spanish league in my time I was a Villarreal cf fan… but not so much anymore and I follow the most important matches in the Spanish league today.

I always put some football at the end of a message, well because I do a lot of sport I consider myself a pro-amateur athlete I go running more than 6 times a week and for football I'm re-bad haha but I like to watch it and I also love the computing and everything related to it. Good, greetings.

If I'm not wrong I think the acronym stands for Mandriva Italian Backports (not International, at least as far as I knew)

          4.    mdrvro said

Well I understand that from the beginning the site was called Mandriva Italian Backports and later it was changed to the current name.

The ones in pink aren't the same ones that made the artwork for the last mandriva?

    1.    Courage said

      Yes they are the same

    Thanks for the post, excellent.
Ever since Mandriva got stuck, I was waiting for the release of this Russian distro. I had already tried ALT, but I had problems with the repositories and now, with ROSA I am delighted, I installed it without thinking twice, although I had to collect some files and personal things. The truth is, this distro is very good, the graphical environment well achieved, enough repositories and compatibility with Mandriva and Mageia, without problems due to hardware drivers.
Everything works in one go on Sony Vaio VGN-NR310FH. I recommend it.

Thank you very much for sharing your experience, surely more than one will find it useful :). Regards.

I was a Mandriva user for quite some time, and it was with her that I was introduced and learned practically everything I know about Linux today. Although sometimes I had some problems (in the 2009 version the sound system did not work well on my laptop, in the 2008.1 it was a toothache to configure the network even via Ethernet, although it is more likely that this was due to my clumsiness, and since 2010 I didn't see a way to connect to my WiFi network from the Mandriva network manager, until with 2011 I saw the light again), the truth is that in general the experience was very pleasant and I never missed any package or program.

I have been using it until last December, at which time because of the stagnation and the continuous uncertainty about the continuity of the distro I decided to install OpenSUSE (which I had already tried a year ago and it left a very good taste in my mouth), and at the moment I am happy in OpenSUSE 🙂

I tell you that this distro has me in love, after going through Ubuntu since 8.04 when I started, linux mint, debia, mandriva, mageia, fedora, opensuse 12.1 that was the last, I had not found a distro so complete and compatible with everything, what I did today was install virtualbox 4.1 and everything worked wonders, I installed the package for mandriva 2011.1 86 × 64 from the official page and everything up to date, usb ports, shared folders etc.
Well as the blog says "we have a release" for a while.
    regards

Hello, what is this based on? That interests me a lot!

    1.    KZKG ^ Gaara said

      It has been Mandriva's family.

I installed the LXDE version installed on a P 4 and the truth is I'm doing very well and it recognized everything the first time, installed together with debian and derivatives and it recognized them, very good distribution.
A bit slow to start but then it goes very fast, I have not had any problems.
I have no idea about Mandriva and derivatives, do you know if you can use Mandriva and Mageia repositories?
In passing I try to see if the page recognizes Rosa Linux.

  12.   platonov said

Rosa Linux has not recognized me, I will touch the User agent.
