Available Plasma Media Center 1.2 RC

We have been coming to you for 9 months following the track a Plasma Media Center (aka PMC) and we already have a new version available that shows that the project is still alive.

PMC's goal is to provide a unified multimedia experience on PCs, tablets, netbooks, televisions, and any other device that is capable of running KDE software.

PMC1

PMC can be used to view pictures, play music or watch videos. Media files can be on the system as local files or accessed with KDE Desktop Search.

The following fixes are added for this version:

  • Keyboard shortcut added to switch between multiple playlists
  • New control icons
  • The system time is displayed on the main screen
  • Picturestrip loops
  • Youtube searches are not hidden

In addition to these, there are bug fixes to determine consistency in behavior.

To install PMC we must follow the following instructions. And we can download it from the following link.

I think there is a lot of work ahead for the PMC developers, and above all, they need a good refinement in the interface. I leave you other screenshots of the application

The interface is horrible and impractical. KDE is supposed to be a fancy desktop. What happened to them? Did they run out of aesthetic criteria?

That explains a lot. They always carried the standard of elegance and neatness in terms of design and we see that in the "pampering" that KDE 5 is receiving in its interface, although from time to time they should slide their hands beyond plasma

The header image reminds me of Sony's XMB.
