I already told you a little about Mari0 so I don't have much to contribute, this article is to show how to play in Debian GNU / Linux for users who are interested.
It's simple, the first thing we do is install the package love:
$ sudo aptitude install love
Later we downloaded the game, in this case Mari0, but there are others:
Once the file is downloaded, we unzip it and as a result we will have a file called mari0_1.6.love. Now we execute in a terminal:
$ love mario_1.6.love
And that's it ..
Thank you elav, now I'm complete ... hahaha
Me too, although I would have to keep waiting to be able to install DOTA 2 on my Linux PC.
I suppose it also works for ubuntu and debian derivatives, right?
So is..
This method works for any distro ... although the terminal is not necessary, just double-click the * .love file
Well, in my case, Ark was opening the front and I had to use the console to run the game.
I did not know that Love2D was in the repos xD
Me neither.
Oops Elav, Debian support now. 😉

That's something macho of you bro. Refrain you should.
You have to link to the game page, with the link you put you are automatically redirected to it, which is slow and annoying.
is this: http://stabyourself.net/mari0/#download
You should explain a little about what the love package is and what it is for.
The love package is a game engine created by the same Mari0 developers (something like the Source SDK).

Thank you very much, I have never been able to win that game in my life, not even to get to the dragon. Talk to me about the minesweeper and the loner.
what I don't like is that it looks like a gun that has a thread and that doesn't let me spin it freely. Problem to shoot when the flower comes out.
The game is spectacular. The only bad thing is that I can't change the controls.
Controls, colors, etc. can be changed. It is all in Options.
Well, I tried elementaryOS (based on ubuntu 12.04 lts I think) and it jumps out that the installed version is lower (love version 0.7.2) so I got off the web https://love2d.org (thanks cat) package 0.8.0 and it worked!
I have the following error
Error: [string "main.lua"]:45: You have an outdated version of Love! Get 0.8.0 or higher and retry.
stack traceback:

[string "main.lua"]:45: in function 'load'

In Fedora through the software installer there is no drawback except that it is not pleasant to play with a small window that cannot be maximized.
I install the zsnes emulator and download the rom of super mario all stars + world and it works great!
I just downloaded and installed the latest version of love, but it gives me an error when executing it. I use Linux Trisquel 6
this is the error it gives me: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B07RiAlBzLm_Wjhmd2ZxOGFRZG8/edit?usp=sharing
Hello, how are you, when I run the game in the terminal I get the window with the presentation of «love» and it doesn't go beyond there, I already pressed all the keys and it doesn't advance ...
Any help please ... Greetings
I have a question, why when I start my Mario portal, I only see the animation of a little pig and many hearts?
